DIY pool table light

All, I am new to AZ and I have recently purchased a used GC III. However, I am getting ready to start puttting it together, but do not have a light yet.
I was shocked at the prices for some table lights and I thought Hay! maybe an opportunity to make my own. Has anyone here made there own light? Could you post pics? Also, is flourecent lighting generally better than halogen? Please let me know. As many people that can chime in the better.

I built one a few months ago and it is very simple but plain looking. Wal Mart has a two t8 bulb shop light for less than $10 each. Get two of them, and I used t8 daylight bulbs from Home Depot and Lowes. I also used PVC pipe to connect the two light fixtures over the top and hung with chains. No batteries for the camera or I would post some pics. I really like it, but like I said, its just a shoplight fixture.
