Do all games considered Cue- Sports need a Commissioner?

Are we at a point where we need to appoint a Commissioner to help grow the game to where it can get the respect other games get?

Other sports that have done this have grown their businesses to where they are a huge part of the economic structure of this country and the world. I'm not crazy enough to think we could compete with them, I just think we could get more done with someone representing the game as a whole.

We might even want to consider a National or World spokesperson.

What do you think?

IMO, NO.

Professional Pool needs a Patron with lots of money to spend and expects nothing in return.

IMO Men's professional pool is in dire straights. Without a "Patron Saint" they are doomed to Status-Quo with the traditional pool tournaments. The Pros will be slaves to the promoter's added money, payout structure and who gets to play. Be nice to the promoter.. or they may not let you play.

A men's organization has been formed, but, what will it do? hold these promoters at gun point? If the player's demands aren't met, what will happen? NO TOURNAMENT? NO Payday for the players. What have they gained? or more importantly, what will they eventually lose?

The Amateurs have a lot of National league organizations to chose from. Approximately 500,000 pool players play in leagues yearly. But, mostly in BARS.

Pool Room owners are going through a tough time in a down turn in the economy but that is true about all the entertainment business.

When people's discretionary income decreases, and it was being used for eating out, going to the movies or getting together with friends at a pool hall is chewed up by the down turning economy, they all suffer.

BARS and amateur leagues are doing OK.

Pool Rooms need to bring in more business. Another tough job to accomplish... how do you get the players in side and spending money?

There is no one out there who could maintain control over pool players in order to moved the game into respectability. The ultimate enforcer in the game of pool is MONEY. Everything that happens with pool, the arguments that rage on, from the lack of good organization, to a squabble between players in a local room, all revolve around MONEY, or lack thereof.

He who commands the purse strings has the power. Get an angel who can pour 2mil into a tour, and if he says all players must wear suits, all players WILL wear suits. Until that day arrives pool will never have a face to guide it.
