do filipino players use different cues?

It seems like there is something different about their cues. It looks as if the taper on the shafts are either longer or narrower?
The other day when I was shooting at my local pool hall, I tried a couple of their two piece cues they had on the wall and one of the cues had a longer and narrower taper, it seemed like I could not pocket as many balls with it. Is this because such types of cues require more accuracy with your stroke?

It's all in your head.

BTW, if we are comparing playing cues to a cue off the wall of your pool room, then yes all players use different cues.

They use a different cue.

Theirs typically has voodoo magic dust in the shaft and joint.

It makes them able to kick anything from anywhere and it has an older version of the "anti-miss joint configuration".

The newer version is in Dennis's shaft.

Of course they use different cues. I dont think one cue would be enough for all of them that play.

I don't know about current Filipino cues but used to be a lot of them were 60 long and had thinner handles.

You're most likely seeing a player with a cue that has a "European Taper". Most house & bar cues have this taper as well. The European taper widens continually and smoothly from the ferrule toward the joint while the "pro taper" cues have a consistent diameter about 12-14 inches from tip down then begins to widen.

I'm not sure if Filipino players are partial to one shaft over another. If you were missing shots you normally make with the house cue perhaps it was just you not being used to the elongated taper or you could have just had a bad day at the table. Hope this helps.

A lot of them like long skinny shafts.
I have Ramon Mystica's shaft here right now.
It's a hand sanded Z2 shaft.
It is warped to say the least.

I think you can chalk it up to physical reasons.
The average Filipino is probably 3 inches shorter and 40 lbs. lighter than the average Yankee.

If I were a betting man, I would empty my pockets and say that Pacquiao's
mom has "something" to do with all those kicks finding the bottom of a pocket.

Here's a never-before-seen footage of her performing a "special ceremony" during Efren's famous Z kick.
