Do most pool cue shippers have very little common sense, or are they just lazy and do not care about the way they package a pool cue when shipping it?

Lol, I am amazed that this cue that I received was nit damaged in transit.

Lol, the freaking joint pin was sticking completely out of the box, when it was dropped off to me.

Also, the only protection it had was a very then layer of Styrofoam wrap, or whatever that stuff is, and not very little scrunched up pieces of paper, only fille up maybe 1/3 of the inside of the shipping box.

So, it rattled around on it way too me, and the joint pin got punched all the way through the box, lol.

Are people who ship really this stupid, or do they just not care about the protection of the item? I this case, a pool cue made of wood.

And, please don't tell me that just because a person is not a professional seller, that they should not have the common sense to package a pool cue, for example, properly, to do the best they can to make it protected while I transit to the buyer.

By the way, this cue came to me from Japan, and the package was even inspected by a 3rd party so called professional shipper / package forwarding company.

I have received a lot of cues over the years, through the mail, and I honestly think that I am one of only a small handful of people who care about good packaging, when shipping a pool cue, for example.

Thanks for any thoughts.

I've seen it numerous times. Got a cue that was packed with cubes of chalk that disintegrated in transit. Made an incredible mess of the cue. I have had several sticking out of the packaging. I had one shaft packed correctly, the package was "damaged" (read opened) and the shaft was missing. That was a reputable AZB member that shipped it. Thankfully insured.

Ignorant? Don't care? Both? Yup. Sometimes neither. Even properly packed stuff gets damaged or pilfered.

Pain in the a$$.

Shipping Triangles, with PVC, or Hard Cardboard inside.

Shipper do not care about much, except getting shipping FEES.

Insurance is fine, but the claim process sucks.

FedX, and UPS point fingers at shippers saying you did not pack good.

The way I package a pool cue, and the type of box I like to use, a Semi truck would have to run over it, in order for the cue to get damaged in transit.

lol, had a reputable cue maker ship me a cue in a USPS triangle box with just some bubble wrap around it. From the tire marks on the box, it had been run over by USPS. I was lucky, shipped it back he rebuilt it, and dealt with any claims himself.

He told me in all his years of shipping, he had never had that happen… it was NOT an inexpensive cue.

Told me he was gonna start using pvc inside his packaging from then on.

I have over the years shipped quite a few cues. I have used FedEx tubes combined with PVC. Also a cue of any real value I would only ship overnight regardless of cost.

Most people aren't used to send packages by mail and certainly not such a strange form factor as a pool cue is.
I get a lot of packages and I'm impressed that some of these cues and shafts makes it in shipping..
I use the triangular caes and I use plastic tubes inside that and a lot of bubble wrap. On avreage it costs me about 5-6 bucks in packaging material to ship a cue. I try to encourage customers to keep the box and tubes in case they want to sell the cue later on or send the cue back to me for some reason.

Oh yeah, cue builders have the very best packaging that I have ever seen, when shipping a pool cue. I can see that they really care a lot about their work getting safely to its destination. Work that may have taken years for them to get finished, so that makes perfect sense.

I have shipped a lot of cues and never once had an issue. 4" sqr box, 4 in round tube inside of box, and bubble wrap the cue and that is that. It is not rocket science.

Whenever I sell a cue, it's inside a tube, inside a box, and then some. I always try to center the cue inside the tube, so that it remains "stable" during shipment. Proper packaging isn't rocket science, it's just good business.

I would disagree, Mike Gulyassy’s break jump cues ARE something special. Been using one for a long time now. 😄

That is really cool. I only meant, compared to like a Searing or a Black Boar, like most of these guys here have, lol.

I am actually excited to learn how to use the thing.

My 1st break / Jump Cue, ever. If I can ever get myself to the pool hall to try it out.
