Ater watching the Mosconi Cup I couldn't help but think of the flak Earl got about his antics at Mosconi Cup. Hatch imop was a little too agorant and arrogance or karma seems to come back and bite you in the butt which happened to the US team.
Even Archer showed a liitle showmanship and excitement which I think is a deviation from prior events. Now don't get me wrong I liked all of it except I think Hatch disrupted the team cohesiveness a bit.
The point is this, when Earl was combative with the crowd he was called everything in the book pretty much by everybody. Now Hatch,Archer and the USA team or doing more or less the same thing and its exciting and bravado. I see a double standard here though I might have missed some thing due to not watching previous Cups as close.
I love the crowds enthusiam and think team pool is the way to go but when someone hits something making a Boom noise at the perfect moment during a players stroke (happened to Archer causing him to miss) is a sign of sharking experience form the fans and lack of respect for the player and match.
Archer complained to the umpire and was visilbly P Oed. This was Earls action also during his cup days. I don't see a whole lot of difference between Hatch and Earls antics other than Hatch got the backing of the US fans and his teammates.
I personaly would like to see Earl back with Hatch giving it to the Europeans until the US team had to be escorted out of town. But you have to back it up or you lose in more ways than one.
So this is for Earl Strickland. You can be and are sometimes an ass, but for your Mosconi Cup antics- I am sorry, I think I owe you an apology. :sorry:
