Do you bother with a chalk holder at home???

Maybe i didn't explain properly, or understand your question. You pull the chalk out of the plastic holder, put a little piece of cardboard inside the holder, then replace the chalk. Now your chalk is once again higher than the edge of the holder. Again apologies if this is not what your question is.

I have to admit, I see what you mean now. I thought you were saying build up the sides of the holder, which didn't make any sense. Now I see you meant keep raising the level of the interior bottom of the chalk holder to keep the top of the chalk brush-able.

Makes sense. However, in approximately 50 years of playing pool, I've never seen anyone do this. Doesn't mean it can't happen, but I suspect it's pretty rare. I wonder how many people have built up the bottom of their chalk holder with shims to keep their chalk bush-able. The good players I've seen over decades who use their own chalk simply keep track of it.

I don't know, this may qualify for the running of the you've got to be kidding me AZB thread. But I understand your point.

Calk holders

100% chalk holder person, if you use expensive chalk and your in a pool room or a bar, no one grabs your chalk and walks off with it or even uses it...........

The chalk fits the tip.....
chalk doesn't get knocked into the pocket. your pants pocket doesn't get chalk in it,
and you can place all your focus on your next shot instead of looking for the chalk.
Hear are some that I have made.

Very Nice. And even though I only chalk before the game and never during the game, my chalk is on a holder at bar for that exact reason, that it does not suddenly get legs.

Some years back, I was in a bar...crappy chalks on the table. This place even kept the balls of Valley tables behind the bar...you were supposed to return them when done.

Using a pocket chalker, I took the chalks & put them on the light. Cheap Wal-Mart chalk,,,I'm guessing, Some brand I'd never heard of.

Anyway, when I was done playing, I returned the balls to the bar. Bartender then said I'd "stolen" chalk...

I walked back to the table, got the chalk off the light, placed them face down on a circle of water on the bar, and walked out.

Yep...I carry my own chalk and use a pocket chalker.

I am using magic chalk you sent me in my personal pocket chalker..
I like magic chalk and I like the fact I don't have to search for the chalk after each shot........

I chalk up after each shot, it is part of my pre shot routine, I like the fact that all my focus can be on my next shot.

The last thing anyone needs is to loose a expensive cube of chalk, and one of the simplest ways to keep that from happening is a pocket chalker.

Ps
Need to pm me a price on some magic please............

This is what I use. http://www.seyberts.com/products/Cuetec_Magnetic_Chalk_Holder-101741-73.html

It has the advantage of a very strong magnet (so it is hard to knock off if you brush against the table) and two "open" sides so that you don't have to shim the chalk up in the holder. I use it at home and at the pool hall.

It looks like it has the illusive and apparently unique ability to place the chalk on its "side"
since it appears to be all metal. Somehow, I think it would be hugely more "grab-able" if worn on my side with the exposed chalk facing to the rear. Wouldn't require any fumbling to orient it into the natural chalking position.

Is this the case???
