do you chalk your phenolic tip?

Should a phenolic tip be or need to be chalked?

only if you introduce yourself to your opponent by tip-poking his dominant eye should you keep it unchalked.

Nope........

Yeah, I've seen your break Ross and it wasn't too bad ;)
I wouldn't mind playing ya some though but I don't make it up to Dr Cues much anymore. Drive is just too far. You ever make it down to City Lights?

Yes. And you can actually play with a phenolic tip. I used to use a tip pik to create dimples to hold more chalk but I don't do that anymore.

I just chalk and go.

I bet playing w/ a phenolic gives you an edge over your opponent; their too busy wondering wtf? And the noise would just rattle their game, hehe. I just might try it :)

Phenolic tips

Yes, I chalk mine before I use everytime, but one time I picked it up by mistake and was shooting a real touchy shot in the corner. The object ball was only 3-4 inches from the pocket, but had 3 balls grouped around it.
I had to make the ball, and draw straight back 4-5 inches to just above the 3 ball grouping to have shape on my next stripe in the cross side pocket, only pocket for it to made in.

Well, I shot the shot with my break cue with the phenolic tip and it drew back perfect (I couldn't vary from a staight backwards line not even a 1/4"), and perfect for the next stripe, when my opponent told me I was shooting with my break cue ... LOL Funny thing is, I never know whether I would have gotten that shape if I had been using my regular cue. I am thinking I might have overdrew it ... LOL

Especially a phenolic tip!

A Tip Pik works better than a tapper to texture these ultra-hard tips (it's what I use on my Stinger). Don't try to twist the Pik; just poke the points straight in using your wrist in a dart-throwing motion - same way you'd texture a leather tip. I use it the same way on both.
