Do you draw a grid on you cloth?

A long, long time ago I bought the game Target Pool. To make the game easier to spot balls for the drills, I decided to draw a grid, using a Sharpie maker, on my cloth from diamond to diamond, end to end and side to side. I noticed during normal play, it also helped my postion play. I am getting ready to set up my table in the next couple month and will do this again.

Does anyone else do this?

Yep, I've done that ... taped monofilament line across the diamonds and put a small dot at each intersection with a fine tipped marker. They are way smaller than the spots, you can hardly see them unless you look. They certainly helps reset shots accurately ... but I'm a bit fussy about things like that.

I used a marker to put dots at the intersections of the diamonds and also marked dots at the "true" places where the diamonds should be. Using Target Pool I just use reinforcent rings to mark the spots.

Does it help? It makes it easier to set up shots but I don't think it helps in making them.

You can grid the table with a contractors pencil, and if you ever want them to come off.....they will! It's a great way to learn, but also learn to see the grid in your head when playing on a table that doesn't have it.

I went from seeing the grid to seeing an angle. I try to envision a line from CB to OB to pocket, then tell myself what kind of angle I want on that line. I'm not as concerned with length of shot, just the right angle.

if you want to use something to set up shots so you can do it over and over you can use those little white rings they sell in the office sections of stores, i think its used to enforce the holes in a sheet of paper so it wont tear when its in a 3ring binder.

That's a good idea for temporary use, but I think they would interfere with the roll of the ball while playing. I want to put something down that is permanant.
