So I've been browsing the Bay again and have noticed a couple of old players (Winston Cigarette cues) and I know that Scott Sherbin has restored an old Budweiser cue...so Im wondering, are there any old cheap-o cues that you own or play with that have turned out to be suprisingly good players?

I have one.

Been shooting with it for a while - a "Mountain Dew" maple stained Challenger cue.

Got it on ebay about a year ago for $20 shipped. It weighs about 18.5 oz, and was advertised as endorsed by Lori Jon Jones(which I am not sure is true or not)

I placed my high bid at $20(with free shipping) on a whim, and won the cue. Thought it was gonna turn out to be a big waste, but players on my league teams without cues have used it, and I use it also.

Great player, and super cheap.

I guess I got lucky. Has shot better than some of the custom cues I have owned in the past - if you can believe that.

Or maybe it truly is the indian not the arrow?

Good luck on your search!

I picked a stealth cue at a thrift store that plays amazing. Really nice shaft wood. Ugly sticker cue, but gets the job done.

My first cue paid 20 bucks. Its a tornado. sticker shit shitty made joint but plays so well people laugh when they hit with it.

I have an old Canadian made Dufferin with the pin in the shaft that i bought at Wal Mart years ago ($20) that i now use for a break cue that really plays well. Well enough that if my main cue became unplayable i could manage with the Dufferin.
