Do you have a question for any of the Joss/Turning Stone Casino Players?

One of the unique features about this sport is that whenever I go to an event, the players themselves are very accommodating to the fans, spectators, and railbirds like me! Most times, I feel like a tourist with my camera in hand, and I have been fortunate to meet quite a few great players in my travels. :)

I'm leaving for the $25,000-added Joss Tour Turning Stone Casino tomorrow morning and hope that Mother Nature is kind to me. There are quite a few happenings this week, to include the IPT qualifier taking place at Hard Times in California. There will be lots of pool news in the coming weeks to report.

I'm going to have a lot of time on my hands this week, and I had thought it would be kind of cool to provide the members of this forum an opportunity to ask any of the below-referenced players a question. I'll print out the list of inquiries and then ask the player the question on your behalf. I will then post the answer on this thread during the week ahead. So ask away, if you so desire. There's quite a few great ones in this line-up of 128 players.

EDIT: This list of 128 is LONG. Is there any way to create three columns within the message window?

Best way would be, to format the list in a program that allows it. Then do a screen capture, crop and save it as a jpeg.

You're talking to a DOS gal, Tracy! :o I know what the terms "screen capture," "crop," "save," and ".jpeg" mean, but to execute this little equation boggles my DOS brain. Can you do it, pretty please?! :p

That looks just GREAT! Thanks so much. :)

If I don't get an inquiry, this thread will self-destruct in 24 hours! :o

Edit: Man, that's a lot of players. Tracy, do you think four columns would be better? [Pushing my luck!]

I can't think of any questions, but if you could put draw numbers beside the names, it would be cool. Tell Keith, not to forget his ether and good luck.

can you find out who is going to Valley Forge Expo

I can't make it but am going to expo. I have some rare photos a young Archer, Strickland,Reyes ,Bustmante, Hall,++++ donated for display recently, by the owner of a famous cue -maker company and want to have them autographed prior to custom framing. These will be displayed at Drexeline. New low voltage track lighting was installed to hi-light these pieces of history. Anybody that has any rare interesting pool related articles for display contact Bob (Florida Bob) Maidhof (610)259-9144

Hey JAM, ask every one of those players if they will give me 9/5...:D

have fun up there, and tell Kieth to snap it off!

Yes ...

I would like to know when and what was the last big tournament that Dennis Hatch won?

Also, kudos to Jennifer, Karen, and Julie for entering.

OK, JAM, I've got questions but only for those pros who know the answers. I have often found that many pros do not know what type of taper they are using. They refer to their taper as stiff or kind of stiff. I don't want to hear that type of answer which you may get from many of them. I want to know what type of taper they are using on their playing shafts:
1. Playing shaft TAPER------
Pro Taper: Whatever dimension that's supposed to be.
12" Straight Taper (for the first 12") then increasing in diameter the rest of the way to the joint.
14" Straight Taper (for the first 12") then increasing in diameter the rest of the way to the joint.
16" Straight Taper (for the first 12") then increasing in diameter the rest of the way to the joint.
18" Straight Taper (for the first 12") then increasing in diameter the rest of the way to the joint. etc.

2. Brand of the playing shaft.
3. Diameter of the shaft: 13MM, 12.75mm, 11 3/4 mm etc...
4. Tip: Brand name and if they modify it in any way by treatment or compression.
5. And also the height of the tip, Short, medium or full height. I think that answer will be the short for most pros.

Please don't go to too much trouble on this matter but if you can get Keith McCready to voice his statistics along with Ralf Souquet, Johnny Archer, Jeremy Jones, Mika Immonem sp?, Shannon Daulton, Earl Strickland, Alex Pagulayan, Corey Deuel, Shawn Putnam and especially any of the Chinese champions like Fong Pang Chou. Some may know this information while I expect most will not know the precise taper of their playing shafts which is what I am most interested in along with the diameter of the ferrule/shaft.

Thanks and have a wonderful time.
Warm Regards,
JoeyA

Couple more questions

Also want to know if John Macias and Tony Ruberto have ever come through
Wichita, Ks. and played. If so, when?

Nevermind Wichita, I'm curious to see what happens when they are in the same room in Verona, this week

They were both there for the Joss finale. Seemed a like some tension but I don't think anything was said or done.

Dammit, looks like a few beat me to the punch!! :D

I have asked both players on separate occasions, individually, whatever happened. The explanations each one of them gave was vague, but IMHO, LilJon appeared to be the one stuck the most as a result of whatever outcome. Tony was backed, and LilJon was partially backed.:(

Koop is right. Both of them were at the last Turning Stone event on the Joss tournament trail. They passed each other by in the hallways like two ships in the night, never uttering a word to each other. :D

Jam,

I don't have any player in particular that I would have you ask this question to. So if you have the time with any player could you ask them:

1) How do they prepare for these tournaments from the moment they arrive at their rooms? (if they would keep a diary on the days events what would it look like?)

2) How much sleep is ample enough for them prior to each tournament day? Catnaps between Matches?

3) How much warmup time do they require? Or do they warmup even at all say the second day? Prior to every match?

4) Do they have any light workouts or jogging they do and when?

Thanks, I know you can't ask them all, and accessibility to some might be difficult. So feel free to pick and choose and tell them their information is much appreciated!

EDIT: This list of 128 is LONG. Is there any way to create three columns within the message window?

Hey Jam,

I'm truly jealous, I wish I could be there, please keep us updated on the progress of the tournament.

The question I would like to hear what any and all have to say about would be " What would you consider to be the truest test in determining a world champion" for example, which game, how long of a race, type of equipment, and any and all other pertinent facts.

See you at the Expo.
Jim

I think it would be cool for a lot of folks here if you can tell them what the players play and break with.

There has been some debate as to whether the professional players are using a cue from a sponsor but use another shaft from someone else.

Also, some posters believe over 50% of the pro are playing with a Predator shaft? Do you think over 50% of the players in this 128 list play with 314 shaft?

Actually, don't go out of your way or spend too much trouble with this. I would rather you stay beside Keith's table and pull him on, and make sure he has enough beers.:) Hope you have a wondeful time down there, and wish Keith all the good rolls.:)
