There are lots of positions where the first object ball is sitting just barely to the side of the path the cue ball would take if banked directly to the second object ball. In those situations, if you just barely skim the first object ball, the cue ball continues on its banking path. Sometimes it's inside english, as with the Jeanette Lee shot shown, and sometimes it outside english, but usually the shot wants running english.

From the number of overly-thin hits on the video, I'm wondering whether Jeanette might not need to try a carom cue.

And why is she hitting it so hard? She needs a shorter bridge and a more delicate stroke as well as a low-squirt cue.

She is naturally a poolplayer. A poolplayer usely uses a long bridge. But I also agree using a shorter bridge, and hitting hit more softly. It's a realy thin cut, so a nice soft hit will do.

The shot is "bigger" when hit with a fast speed in order to get long enough from that angle... If you hit it too slow, the english takes too much on the 2nd rail (making it shorter) and you get too little on the 3rd rail (making it shorter).
