Seriously, I wonder what the purpose of this poll is. There is one "yes" and a whole bunch of "no"s. What information are you trying to draw from these results?

Why not start a poll like this:

What is your favorite color?

1. Blue
2. A color other than blue
3. A non blue-like color
4. I don't have a favorite color
5. All colors are my favorite
6. I have a personal explanation as to why the above choices are not suitable for me

I choose #4

Yes. I'll clarify since there is only one 'yes' :)

I play league for the free pool that comes with it and have only done so since I moved here in the last 2 years and have no 'connections' for free pool. ;)

I play APA at one place close to me and BCA at another for the same.

Few "generalizations" :

All in all , league generally sucks for stronger players.

Handicapping of any kind generally sucks for stronger players.

Leagues generally cater to weak to mid range players as that is where the volume/money is.

The 23 rule sucks but at least it keeps me from having to play alot of league matches. :D

Ok , that all sounds harsh. League is ok but I don't take it seriously , imo WAY too many people do. They wine about wrong SLs , they wine about the handicaps , they wine about sandbaggers. Some people wine about everything. :) League is for social pool. Serious players should play serious Tournaments and only wine about getting beat. :D

I see 78 "Yes" answers as of right now.

I play BCA 2 nights a week. 1 in-house and 1 travel team. The in-House I'm in is out of Alexander's in Phoenix. This session was the hardest yet, because a lot of the top players in the state were playing to get qualified for Vegas. Including the Reno Open Champion, Mitch Ellerman. I personally enjoy or league because it's a 4x4 with a race to 11. Teams are spotted games based on AZ Ratings. It's more like the Team event in Vegas, just spread out for 4 or 5 months instead of 2 or 3 days.

I've played in all types of leagues from Win/Loss to Points leagues. Point leagues are fun, but don't like the fact you have to win with a certain number of balls left on the table for higher scores. It takes the fun out of the safety game. When you win down to the 8 ball you only get a 8-7 win, and that doesn't help the team that much. Oh well.

Good poll! See you all in Vegas! (I'm playing for 3rd place)

I played APA for 3-4 years. Our team was right @ the 23 points with 4 players @ SL5 and 1 @SL3. One of our players went up and we didn't want to break the team up as we are all friends & family so we moved to BCA. I liked it when I was playing, then after switching to BCA I realize that it kinded of sucked. Waiting forever to play and being out until midnight or later usually.

Been playing BCA for 2-3 years. I like the format better. No real complaints except for the session end tourney that our LO allows players to play on multiple teams which can take quit a while when he/she is supposed to be playing 2 games at once. And it's usually a ringer that only played enought matches throught the session to qualify for the tourney.

I think league can be enjoyable as long as everyone on the team has the same goals/habits as far as winning, practicing, etc. go. My team doesn't anymore so I'm not sure how much longer mine will last. :(

I play VNEA and BCA 8ball league. I don't think there are any 9-ball leagues around here??

BCA is by far my favorite, it is a AA league and we do not play handicap. 1/2 of the players in the league will and can run out at any given time. I love the stiff competiton. State and Vegas for BCA are the bomb.

VNEA is ok, I now sub once in a while but it is still pretty fun.

Used to play APA, but hated it. It is hard to have a decent team with the handicap rules.. Being a 7 gave me little opportunity to shoot much. Gave it up years ago.

Leagues in general are a good time but I love the individual tournaments the most.

About 6 weeks ago I agreed to sub for a friends VNEA league team. I said I'd help them out if they were EVER short on players. Since they've asked me to play every week since then, I'm starting to feel like I'm more than just a sub. I'll qualify my answer a little better next time I'm asked that question.

Monday.....VNEA team 8-ball 5-man (and women)
Tueday......BCA 3-man nine ball in-house
Wednsday..BCA Texas Express 8 / 9 ball inhouse-4man
Thursday....VNEA / BCA combined sanction team 8-ball
Friday.........oh yeah I have a girlfriend

I used to play APA & TAP. I just didn't like the APA, and the scoring in TAP is too grueling. Also, we get done so much sooner in these more competitive leagues, with less score keeping

I played in a league years ago, but since I had kids and stopped drinking, finding a league is tough. I play a lot in Pool Rooms, but mostly at my house.

Before I got to your Friday, I was thinking, this guy is definitely NOT married..:D

I didn't play pool the entire 20-years I was married. My girlfriend goes with me every night, everyone likes her, she goes off and plays bingo, takes my car shopping, just loves to go out. Talk about the perfect women. Yesterday when I went out to practice, she took my mother out to dinner.

When I was married, my wife would say "if you go out, i'm going to divorce you". Finally one day I said "go ahead, and i'll save you the 30-bucks process server fee and pick the papers up myself" (on the advice of my lawyer) Now I only pay $2500.00 per month maintenance & child support. Getting kicked out of mediation for calling her lawyer a Fat F**k didn't help me.

I have played on BCA 8 and 9-Ball leagues in the past.

I don't play on them anymore because I have a 9' table at home now.:)
