Do you practice what you preach?

So many of us give advice, a lot of it is opinion but I'm curious how many fully do what they recommend.
For example, when telling someone to "stay down longer" or "shorten your bridge" or "follow through" are these things that you do most of the time or things that you yourself try to perfect and pass it on as good info. Or could it be that perhaps some of us are better at giving advice than actually doing the action, kind of like that fat out of shape football coach who can lead a team but not run the play himself.

IMO i'm a fat football coach, but i'm loosing weight and hope one day to be a player.

I follow 100% what I write. And if I don't (because I'm not concentrated) I miss my shot and I could kick my own arse.

I also have given up on stabbing DOWN AT the cloth all poolers seem to do - instead I keep with my Carom stroke of stroking PARALLEL / ALONGSIDE the cloth.

Cheers.

John Higgins, snooker player, was giving some instruction to beginners.
Then he realized that what he was telling them was not what he actually did.
And he had not been playing well, commentators attributing to his upcoming 40 year milestone.
Went back and started relearning fundamentals.

Has won three major tournaments in the past year.
Euro Tour 5
International Championship
Australian Open

Lost 6 - 5 to the eventual winner Neil Robertson in the quarter finals of the UK Championship
During the match he made his 600th century

No longer considered a member of the over-the-hill gang :D

I do!

I practice what I preach, but that doesn't mean that I'm not wide open for learning something and changing my opinions, which I have done recently on a few things.

if i open my mouth or take the time to put my advice through key strokes then you can take it to the bank i practice what i preach. but to further my point, this extends to how i lead my life. i don't flap my gums to hear myself talk; it is what i believe. you can take it or leave it; that would be your choice.

I certainly do. I think honesty is the very best policy. Like when I say that pj is one of the smartest people I know. :)

Where's that breeze coming from?

Just to be clear, I didn't mean that people only talk and don't do, i'm trying to see how much of what is said get's applied to what percentage. So please don't take this as a total "put your money where your mouth is" type thing.
i.e. there are some in bar leagues or local bangers who would tell someone to stay down on a shot or something to that nature but they look like they are fly fishing when they shoot.
So I know most of us try to do the right thing but may still struggle with it here and there so I was just curious how many follow their advice as best as they can vs knowing what good advice is or needs to be done but does not fully get to __________ (drawing blank on the word) on it due to age or skill level or playing style (i.e. i know i should do X but i feel more comfortable doing Y and play the shot better, i don't get the action/reaction when i do X)

Is that the same as saying: "You always do that, sometimes?"

I've never been concentrated, before.
I've been constipated, but never concentrated.

I teach what I've learned from experience, which means I've done it and I've fixed it.

Me too.... My advice is always given to folks from 60 years of playing, plus what I've learned from instructors & great players.

I want the best for all. Last week, I showed a young man how to throw frozen balls & he beat me in tournament with that very shot.. Irony is a bitter pill.

Hardest thing for me to do is keep my mouth shut, when I should.{even if I am right!}
Second is practicing what I preach.
Two seemingly small things, until you try to do them every time.
