Do you think Wu will win again?

He is looking pretty solid. He has as good a chance as anyone I guess. Maybe a little more due to the fear factor of playing the "world champion". At this point though, they are all strong.

Ralf, Yang, Wu all look very strong to me, and then I will never underestimate Kuo, and Alcano...

It will be something that would certainly go down in the billiard history book if Wu wins it again...

I have always had my eye on Kou  ,

.....no silly, not like that hehe.

What i mean is he looks a very dangerous player and my first impressions of him on the table was that he was quite a cool customer with most/all the shots in his arsenal and he got a fanastic break like most of the Taiwanese players.

I think despite Wu's amazing feat to bringing it right round and winning the title last year, he was fortunate that the balls ran for him as he was in the brink of defeat. Kou was a little unlucky and made a crucial mistake which gave a life line that Wu took (all credit due).

Kou imo was the better player all the way up until that point. So i would fancy him going far if his game came together. He got just as explosive break as Wu so anything can happen.

It is amusing how locals in Manila have counted out everyone barr their own players. Not saying another word but i think their going to be surprised as they just put a tad bit too much pressure on them.

For me, i go for Wu, Kuo and Yang.
Hmmm, I wonder if you're Taiwanese? :p

I think whoever makes it out of the top quarter of the chart will win it all. That could be either Wu, Kuo, Alcano, Reyes, or Manalo. If Holtz makes it out of that group, then you can be sure destiny is on his side. ;)

I think it would be cool to see a Wu vs. De Luna final. Two young guns from the two most represented countries. Unfortunately, at best we would see a Wu vs. De Luna semifinal.

Much harder to pick a winner coming out of the lower-half of the bracket. I just saw that Souqet beat Yang, so maybe Ralf will make the final. Also nice to see Davis advancing to the top 16, with his win over Pena. I think a European will take the bottom half. I'm guessing an Asian vs. European final.

Though, I'm still rooting for Reyes. How sweet would it be to top off his legendary career by winning the World Championships in his home turf? Also, winning the World IPT 8ball title and the WPC 9ball title in the same year would be pretty cool as well.

If Wu continues at his current pace he would have to be considered the favorite to win IMO. But I would keep my eye on Kuo, he quietly sent Manalo packing.

Sorry to say that....i am not.

Why i go for Taiwanese is that they are more cool and relax on the table. They do not focus much on their surrounding that is why they do not get influence so easily.
Phi are good and they always a treat to the Taiwanese. But due to before the start of WPC, filipinos set their hope too high. That is why there is an amount of pressure in the Phi top players.
As for Reyes, i do not think he lost bcos of pressure. He lost bcos he has lost touch in accurracy. What Reyes is very good as is experience. There is no doubt he is the best pool player in term of experience and theory.
Anyway, my prediction for the final is Wu Vs Alanco or Wu Vs Ralf. Hopefully it is not Wu Vs Kuo again.....that will be too boring.

Reyes hasn't lost his "touch", it's just there's too many distractions when he's
back home. Too many invites, money games, and he's staying up until the
wee hours in the morning playing chess, pusoy2, tong-its (the last 2 are all
card games), or mahjjong. He's a different animal when he's playing abroad.
He always gets enough rest before every game.

As for a Wu/Alcano finals, it ain't gonna happen. They're both in the upper
bracket. I would like to see Alcano against Souquet or David Alcaide in the
finals though...

I did not say lost touch in pool. I mean lost touch in accurracy.;)

Wu does look in exceptional form, but over this distance I think anything is possible.

He plays Pat Holtz now and I would love to see Pat spring a surprise on him - it might help Pat being an underdog in this one.

It is hard to see any non-Asian player winning this now, but Souquet is always dangerous and Tot, Alcaide and Davis could all crop up in the later stages too. Of course if you are putting your money where your mouth is then you would be hard pushed to back against the brilliant young Mr. Wu.

Whoever wins, this has been an excellent competition so far. Watching on TV has been a pleasure - great commentary in the UK with board regulars Jay Helfert, Pat Holtz and of course the main man, Jerry Forsyth. I also have to commend the local guy who does the interviews with the players (whose name I do not know) - he seems to ask very good questions and has a great way of doing his job.
