LD shafts are all bs, your hand eye coordination will compensate more than those silly ass shafts will.

I guess we know your opinion, at least in general. Do you think you could tell us what you really think?

While I also shoot with an OB-1 shaft, the one I really like was made by Schmelke for me; it's a solid maple 11mm shaft with a 15 inch pro taper. What I like about it especially is the hit, very sweet... Plus it's quite a low deflection shaft too, about the same as the OB-1, at least that's the way it plays to me. It'll spin the cue ball just as well, and is more powerful than the OB-1. Why that is I'm unsure, but it is definitely more powerful, and that must be accounted for.

I have another really low deflection shaft that is even better than the Schmelke 11 mm. It's about 10.25 mm, and the shaft wood is somewhat denser than the Schmelke and it is more powerful than the Schmelke. The taper may be part of the reason for that, but the ping sound it produces is higher pitched and it stops vibrating more quickly.

Any of these 3 shafts are just fine for me; the commonality that exists between them is they are all low deflection shafts. And yes, I definitely play better with them than with a "normal" shaft.

I've been using a Z2 for a while now and I like it. I have to give a lot of thought to making the ball so if I don't have to think about deflection (except on very heavy english shots) then that just leaves a little curve on slow shots w/fairly heavy englilsh. Other wize my mind can be on making the shot and where I am going to leave the cb.

I have been playing with a 314/314-2 and recently switch back to normal shaft for a few months.... i can play with both but prefer the 314....

I guess you should use what works for you. I prefer the hit of a solid maple shaft, but I'll miss a shot now and then using English with the solid shafts. I play more consistent with LD shafts and my favorite is the Predator 314-2 shaft. I've tried OB-1 shafts also and I think they play well, but I like the Predator a little better.

I use an OB-1 shaft and had used a Z shaft for a year previous. I started making shots I never could before after I put on the OB-1. I tried going back to my stock shaft yesterday on a $3000 cue and could not make a thing. I put the OB-1 back on and shots started falling again. I have no idea why and it is frustrating as hell.

I also use the OB-1 on a high end Josswest.
The feel off the ivory joint is absolutely superb.
