Does a specialized break cue really make a difference?

Scientific data is helpful, but the breaking machine uses the exact same stroke everytime...
humans do not...

No CUE will improve my break. Only I will improve my break. You mention practicing with the break cue will make you better - DUH. What a thought - practicing your break makes you better? Hmmm.....need to think about that one. Put the same practice into breaking with your playing cue, and you might see an improvement. And, you'll have a spare $300 in your pocket. I LOVE beating on guys that have BK2s in their bag.

Shane really pusses the break with his playing cue, doesn't he?

I LOVE beating on guys with an extra $300 in their pocket.:D

i disagree. a weak break can come from a heavy cue and a soft tip. i would give a 12 year old a 17 oz stick with a phenolic tip and expect some damage to the rack.

the speed comes not only from the arm and its ability to generate speed and fight the inertia of a cue in a still position, but also the tip. a soft tip will compress and absorb a lot of the impact on the cue ball thus reducing the speed the cue ball travels at. think of hitting a baseball with a pillow instead of a bat. or a wooden bat as opposed to an ultra lightweight titanium or aluminum bat.
Fairly certain you should re-read my post. I wrote a break cue will give a slight advantage over a "hard tipped" cue, Ie water buffalo.

Besides, I wasn't commentating on the performance of any break cue, I'm commenting on the performance of the person using that cue.

My point is simple... if you're break sucks, no break cue will fix that.

You show me someone with a fantastic break stroke using a house cue and pit him against someone with a weak break using a predator BK and I'll take the guy with the house cue.

now that we have them convinced they need a break cue, we can sell them one for soft shots, one for hard shots, one for top english, a special one for super draw, stun shots, hard cuts, easy shots, banks, one pocket, nine ball, eight ball, practice, league, get my drift. its all a ploy to sell more cues. inmo you are better with the cue you are acustom to shooting with, i break. jump and run racks [ well ever now and then ] with one cue. chuck starkey
Yeah, I like that idea, we can carry a golf bag to hold our 9 cues.:D

I have to apologize. It looks like I'm using a GOOD cue instead of a CRAPPY cue. I play with a Schon, which speed rates right around all these "break cues". Maybe if I used an inferior playing cue, I'd notice these differences. LMAO

HAHAHA! Riiiiiggghht. I bet all these guys on AZ who prefer using a specialized break cue use POS playing cues. Mystery solved.

I think we'd all like a piece of that action. Unfortunately, to be a fair test, it has to be the same guy breaking with each cue. :)

Sheesh , what's with some of you people. :)

Why does every side always have to be one extreme or the other , maybe there's an answer in the middle ?

MAYBE . . . just MAYBE , a specialized break cue will help your break 'some'.

MAYBE . . . just maybe , there's an answer somewhere in between you CAN buy a break or there's absolutely no gain from a break specifc cue.

Think ? :D

I posted the reason why I use one , someone want to tell why those reason were wrong ?

How can it be the same guy?... one has to have a great break and the other has to have a poor break.

Just paypal me the money now:D

My break break cue is made of solid admantium, and weighs a mere 12oz.

It has a ferrule made of 2000 year old gryphon bone and the tip is diamond encrusted.

The sound of it striking the cue ball is like that of a violent lightening strike coupled with the braying of 100 goats.

It smells like cherry licorice and is installed with an audio track so that when the pressure is placed on the tip is screams, "Boomshakalaka!"

My break cue will not only improve your break speed by 300%, it will also teleport you back in time should the cue ball reach 1.21 jiggawatts.

....oh and I added a little sound warbler inside so when you tip it upside down, it moos. :)

Who made it and where can I get one?:) Does it come in vanilla scent?.
It was crafted by the ancient mountain dwarves of Caer Banog over the span of several millenia. Its metal can only be tempered by the infernos of Mt. Doom and it is blessed by Odin himself!

....i think I got mine at Academy Sporting Goods...

Here's mine again ;)

I use a much lighter break cue than I would play with , good for a few extra mph. 17 vs 20 and yes I've checked it with radar. ;)

I'm also using a Phenolic tip which most likely puts a little less spin on the CB (easier to park the CB)

My break cue is more front weighted which I feel like I can control better with the stance I use when breaking.

And , I keep much less of a radius on the Phenolic tip than I could play with normally.I alos like the fact that tip wear/damage/etc is genereally no longer an issue.

These all add up to a measurable amount of gain IMO. AND . . . I use about $150 J/B.

This is not about how much you should spend aon Break cue cause then all the arguements are precisley the same for those concerning a $300 players and a $3000 player or are some of you trying to buy a run game too. :)

Jay.

Just reading your post has improved my break, although some may say that's impossible.

Some do :D

Brasky thought up the idea for it while grabbing a pissed off Kodiak and slapping it with it's own paw while saying "quit hitting yourself"

The bear died of shame

I have a break cue with phenolic tip, but gave up on it. I get much better spreads and accuracy with my regular playing cue. That's because I use the same technique for breaking as for regular play.

Show me one professional player that uses the same technique for the break shot as their regular play. Soft break not included.

Maybe the Phenolic tip just showed you the flaws in your stroke.

:) Just kidding around. :)

Maybe. ;)

LOL. I meant we'd all like YOUR side of that. It's like saying that I bet Efren could use a Cuetec to beat a D player, and the D player gets to pick any cue in the world. It doesn't really prove anything.
