Does Anyone Also Make Pens?

What kind of finish you use on your wood pens Jim ?? I got the acrylics figured out but still can't put a good finish on wood to save my life, lol.

I can't speak for Mr. Baxter, but I use a few different finishes on mine depending on what the person wants.

High gloss - I use CA.

Satin - I use boiled linseed oil/CA. This method requires no sanding for me.

Natural - I either use a friction polish, OB Shine Juice - recipe compliments to Capt Eddie, Danish oil, or Tung oil.

Here are the ones I did for my kids Xmas stocking stuffers:

Very nice! What pen kit is that?

Thanks. It's the Compson pen kit. I like the way it clicks. :)
Where did you get it at ?? Never heard of that kit. Looks similar to my Gatsby click pen. Having a click pen is a MUST for me. I like that one, wouldn't mind doing a few of them. Like those blanks too.

Not a real cue maker, I aspire to be a cue maker one day, just learning. I have only converted a couple of one piece cues and made one from scratch so far. I have made a few pens for gifts this past Christmas. This was my favorite. Took me 2 tries and much more time than it should have.

Just an update... I ended up getting in touch with Jim (keepanionme) and I couldn't be happier!

I supplied him with some wood and he made two gorgeous pens for me. They came out so nice that I'm also having him make a few more as gifts to give at my upcoming wedding.

The pen on the left is Curly Koa and the pen on the right is an unknown burl... not sure what it is, but it sure is a pretty piece of wood.

Thanks again, Jim!
