Does anyone here really Play Pool?

I play a Monday night in house league and one or two days with a friend, I have been slowed since July due to medical problems but am about 85 90% back.

The reason I don't frequent the pool room more nights is I don't want to leave the wife home alone too much. Not fair of me. Daytime is fine, only problem is, the room isn't open until 3:00 PM. When you are retired, and it's winter time, oh to have a room that opened at 10:00 or 12:00. I would be in there most days. Sign of the times, the demand isn't there. When going in at 3:00, you feel that you have to be home for dinner at a reasonable time, so it puts a cramp into it. Not as enjoyable.

Eventually, unless someone comes up with a miracle cure, it's going to be hard to find a pool room. Seems like the swing is to have your own table, if you are fortunate enough to have a room big enough for one.

I work on my game every day, but I rarely “play” pool anymore. I shoot 5 games in league every Tuesday and that is about it. I’ll play a weekly tournament once every 2 or 3 months, but I never just go hang out in a pool hall.

I'm retired and winter in Southern Arizona, our retirement community has 3 pool rooms
with 9' tables (10 in total) and a 10' snooker table. I play every day and we have recently established some leagues. No money involved just for fun. When I'm back in IL I have my own table and also go to the newly opened room in town with 9' Diamonds.

Have been playing since 16 and am now 43. With wife, kids, and work I am always on the clock. I am the guy who has to leave at X-o'clock. My opponents hate it, as do I. But I always state it up front so there are no hard feelings.

I usually gamble cheap in 1pocket (10-40 a game) and go in cycles of playing 3-5 times a week, to 1 time. I swear it can get to be an addiction. I will clean my house top to bottom for 5 hours just to get clearance (happily) from my wife to spend the afternoon or night at the pool hall with no guilt lol.

Played yesterday for the first time in a week and the first 2 guys I played didn't want to gamble, and I got truly bored. Not because of the money, but there needs to be a real penalty if I play poorly and vice versa.

Was getting ready to leave at 11:pm in when a cheap game came in. Hello 2:30AM on a work night lol.
