Does anyone know or remember a cue repairman name Benny Rhiel [last name might be misspell]. I believed he was from Ohio area and work with Joe Blackburn at U.S. 9Ball Open. doing repair. I brought one of his cue in early ninety. But sold it in '96. Wonder if he still making cue or ???.

I think you spelled his last name wrong, but I doubt I could do better. I knew him years ago but you are the first one to mention him in years.

His last name might be Reil or Riel. I know he did ad. in a Ohio regional billiard/pool magazine around '92 -'94 time frame. I believe he was from Cincinnati area. The cue was a sneaky pete style, linen butt and joint collar, no bumper[weight bolt show], 4 points Bocote butt. Brought for $125.00 [right off the lathe at the U.S. Open], sold for $175.00 .

I could never remember his name although if someone said it I always remembered. His name was something like Benny Rialto. He used to do cue repair at tournaments in the northern part of Ohio mostly. He was from the Cleveland area. Haven't heard much about him lately but then again I don't get in that area much anymore. Mike Janice, I'm sure, knows him well and if he's still around Mike would know where to find him.

Rhncue, I think you are right about Benny been from Cleveland. The cue was just sign Benny between the points. Everyone just call him Benny. I also believe he when back to work for UPS. Very nice guy. His last name wasn't real common. Thank for the info

Benny Reenzi (sp?) Used to set up at Starchers and stuff? Real nice guy, I'm not sure what he's doing now.

> Trust me,it's Rienzi, and the bar his dad owned and he probably owns now is located on South Street about 2 blocks from my parent's old house in Akron. That is the very first place I ever hit a ball, the first place I ever saw a rack ran,(my dad),and the first place I had ever seen a 3-pack on a bar box,(also my dad). I've seen him at the U.S. Open with Joe,and you can bet if he was behind Joe's lathe,he knows what he's doing. Tommy D.

Tommy-D, Thank for the info. I can't remember if Benny was teaching Joe in early '92 or Joe teaching Benny At U.S. Open. Benny was missing a little hair on top, heavy set, about 5' 6" possible 5' 8''. But he was the cue repairman for the Pro. I might have to dig out my storage box to see if I got any item on him. Do you think he building cue?

You're right, Benny Rienzi used to do repairs at most of the tournaments around the Cleveland area. He worked the World 14.1 Straight pool championships in '88 & '89 (in Cleve) and I recall seeing him at Starchers every time I went. I heard he was working for Danny Vegh's in Cleveland about 2 yrs ago doing table setups, etc. He used to own his own shop selling pool tables & equipment in Cleveland for many years. He lived a few miles from his store & had 7 or 8 lathes set up in his garage. A few were set up on an uncovered pool table cuz it was solid & it was available. Don't know if he's still building cues. He gave me many tips about cuemaking back in the early 90s.

dzcues and all - Thank! Benny Rienzi, is the person I was talking about. I got numerous comments about his cue [ one that I should of kept], if I find a picture in my file I will post it. Yes he did own a shop. Still would like to know if he still build cue on the side?
Thank All
