For years Golf on the snooker table was a big time gambling game. Especially in the south. Many other parts of the country played this moving game too. Any Golf action around any more?

Hemi,
In Modesto California at Kim Davenport's place. They love golf there! They have a very fast and tight 5 X 10 snooker table there. From what I hear, there are games there all the time.

Park N Back Billiards
Hwy 22
Panama City, Fl

They have a pair of 5 x 10's there with action every night.
Ask for Fred.

you can play GOLF in Tulsa at "The Palace", 24 hours a day. They play on a 5 x 10 Kling with regular 2 1/4" balls. The game is generally 10 and 1 & to sellout usually costs you more. Lots of games are 5 & 6 handed playing 20 & 2 with double sellout fees....

Bring your wallet, your stroke & your patience...

go to "THE HOUSE OF LORDS" pool hall in hicksville, long island new york, mon-fri from noon to 6:00 and ask for scot nocowski. he will play anyone for anything in golf, on there 5x10 old table. he is a ledgend who used to have the greatest stroke in the world, and played better than corey dueuel when it came to shotmaking.

Hemi I dont know about down south but up here in the frozen north ( Edmonton Alberta Canada) at my local hall there is always a golf match going on hell you can come in at 10 am on a saturday and the guys are on the back 6x12 playing golf and if ya come back 6 hours later they are still playing usually 4 snooker tables going with golf all day long

Brillo, My Friend. Do I ever remember the Pay Ball games? Billy Weir AKA "Weird Billy" busted a game in Baton Rouge for over 50k. He had just returned from working on the Alaska pipeline. Was suppose to have won 200K up there. What were those guys going to do with their money but gamble it away, LOL. Billy use to give up "Weird" games and out run it. Kinda like Keith did at one time. $20 and $40 Pay Ball was some really good action.

For those who have never heard of Pay Ball, it was a 10 ball ring game played, in Baton Rouge, on a super tight 5X10 snooker table with pool balls. There would be 5 to 10, or more, top players in the game at one time. You were paid $20 for every ball you made from every player and $40 from every player for making the 10 ball.

If there were 7 players in the game and you ran a rack, you would collect $1,320. Could you stand to put a few racks together?

And, this was back in the 70s when you could buy a ton more with $20 than you can now.

Great to see ya on the board Brillo. Guys, Brillo can tell ya some awesome stories about this game. He use to run with Scotty Townsend and others. Nuff said.

When I was learning to play( about 15 years ago) there was a ton of golf action on 6x12 snooker tables in the metro detroit area. There were 5-6 handed ring games every day at some spots. Unfortunately, I think those days are a thing of the past. I now live in the south and would love to find a regular golf game on any size table. Golf is a game of patience and position. I really miss it.

have a 5x10 in my basement we play 3-7 handed golf on all the time, with regulation or snooker balls. we play for quarters though, sorry, guess my house just isnt big timers.

Reverend,

What do you mean when you were learning to play? Do you know how to now???? I WOULD THINK NOT. You still got lots to learn son.

Still games at 2 places pretty regular, but not at what we used to bet. Just no new kids playing and the old guys are pretty much washed up.

Hemi,
Were you ever at Joe Burns' place in Dayton? Now that was a hell of a tight snooker table, ball juuuust barely fit thru the jaws.

Hey $bill. That pay ball sounds like rough stuff. If you ever get down to Pensacola there are a few guys hang out there that like to play Golf on a snooker table.

Later, Pel

Opps, should have said where - J&J on Fairfield Ave

Go into Hardtimes, in Bellflower, Calif, at most any time of the day or night and there seems to always be a game in process on "Big Bertha" (6'x12') Action varies as far as $ goes on the Golf game but if Parica or someone is in town you may watch some Liability being played for 5-10 a point. It is awsome to watch Parica fire balls in pockets that you know will not accept that speed!

If you are in the Vancouver, BC, CANADA area golf on a 6X12 foot snooker table is very popular in two rooms. Rack Billiards has a daily golf game as does Guys and Dolls. The regulars are always welcoming of new talent so if you are in the neighborhood, stop in...you will be guaranteed a great time.

They got a Liabilty game on 12' snooker table here in Pensacola.........not every night but just about. I think 2 maybe 4 bucks a point. Adds up quick!

There is very solid action at Kim Davenports Championship Billiards here in Modesto. You can get 500 a game action just about any day there, the table is a 5x10 with TIGHT pockets. I understand that there has been a solid payball game going on as well, if ever in the area come check it out!

Hey $Bill I was teaching golf to some of the new players in Southern Billiards a few weeks ago we played real cheep 5 a head with $0. 25 hickies(sp) it's a great game. Carlton

I've played some.

If there were some standard rules the game would be more popular. Every where you go they play different. There are some good players around that will bet it up, too. The problem as I see it is the snooker tables of today, with big pockets do not lend themselves to good golf games. It is not supposed to be a run out game. A heads up game is totally different from a ring game, because in a ring game the player following the worse defensive player has a big advantage. We play off the 7 spot but a lot of places play from the 6 spot. Some places use pool balls, and or hickey balls. I have even seen golf tees set up on all the spots as obsticles that count as a hickey if knocked over. I even heard of a game where the pill bottle is turned upside down on the 5 spot (full of pills) and if is knocked over, you owe the number of points that come out of bottle, in hickeys. LOL Some places you have to hit a rail after contact, others you don't. The home table advantage can be huge in golf. Anyone looking for a money game can most likly get one, most anywhere ever they play the game. I have...
