great designs on it,are there any markings?

Can you tell if it's leather or vinyl? I've seen a couple of them on ebay and both were exactly alike. I sent a message to one of the sellers who had it listed as leather and ask if it he was 100 percent sure it was leather and he changed his listing. I was going to buy it if it was leather but if the seller wasn't sure I didn't want to take the chance.
I've had a couple, they were vinyl. Never figured out the maker or where they were made.

I an tending towards heat embossed vinyl. There looks to be three patterns used two of which are repeated. The plates would have likely been made of brass. The rope pattern is a common one.
Edit: It difficult to tell in the pictures but it seems as if the tooling is NOT identical from one side to the other. If not then this is proabably leather and hand carved rather than embossed.
It would be interesting to know the provenance of this case. It's done in the extruded tube style but also in the old flyrod fishing case /Brunswick case style with the shape. The end caps look to be molded plastic which leads me more into the 70s.
I would place it somewhere in the 60s-70s if I had to guess just based on the construction aspects.
