Does anyone still live stream without charging a pay per view fee? I used to like checking out the streaming forum and finding a good match or tournament going on. Al was great! Gone are the days I suppose. Sigh...

Quite a few events still provide free streaming. Examples: all of the US Pro Billiard Series events (which are sponsored by CSI and Predator), the recent World 8-Ball and World 10-Ball Championships, Turning Stone events, the American Straight Pool events, challenge matches from the Philippines.

I used to get emails alerting me to such things. Not one in years. Seems like they would want to promote them so they could get viewers and sponsors and such.. I don't spend a lot of time hunting for them quite honestly. Hell, what do I know. If just the AZB members alone got an email promoting the event they would most likely have a huge increase in the number of watchers. Maybe a seperate section in the live streaming section for free to watch events would worth creating to help get the word out?

this is from the ongoing eurotour with filler, mario, soufi etc. idk if they'll stream the final for free though.

but i know what you mean, early youtube streaming was great with insidepoolmag, azbtv, povpool, fastlenny and bigtruck streaming free. wasn't HD, but still..

The Mad Apple does free streaming of four different matches every week with excellent commentary. They also free stream many of our state events. Friday night's stream is their king of the hill for Fargo 600 and over and this coming Friday should really be a good one with both players at 700+ Fargo. This past Friday was a fantastic 10 ball matchup. They also stream 3 matches on Sunday, a women's match with any Fargo, and 2 other matches with Fargo ratings 500 and under, and 600 and under. They have a fantastic place and really support pool. They have many leagues, a weekly 8 ball tmt, and really support and mentor local youth in the area interested in pool.
Look up Mad Apple Xstream on youtube

I know on youtube at least you have to be subscribed to a channel and have the bell icon turned on to get notifications. I don't know of anyone doing emails anymore, just reminders on apps.

Sharks is always free, with top level players…..if, you can fade the commercials every rack.

Yes the op is complaining .He wants free streams , and wants to not have to look for them .

OP does have a valid point - if you do something why not promote it?

I realize the op is probably too lazy to sign up for notifications but maybe others arent?😉

If I ran a tournament it would be promoted before-during-and after.

WOW. A pool player bitching about something not being free anymore. How novel.

No one is complaining that they want free streams. To lazy to sign up for notifications? No not sure what or where or how to do such things. But I'm learning a lot from this thread. I think everything needs to be funded in some way. That is either the P.P.V. model or the Sponsored by Model. Free? No. I have done the P.P.V. with shit results, problems with streaming, delays, poor quality and god knows what else, enough to pass on it for the rest of my life. Plus unless I have all week or week end to and enough interest to make it worth while I found it to be pretty expensive for what I personally was getting out of it. I would rather see some advertising and not feel like it was a waste of money because I didn't take full advantage. Also, Yes I said I hadn't really done any digging. This thread is turning into a gold mine. I guess it really does matters where you dig.

So you are saying just because it's free enterprise it isn't totally free? Wow I need some time to process that.

If you go to Facebook and YouTube, follow the ones that do streaming, you will get notifications when things happen.

AZBilliards has a Streaming Events forum as well.

I miss the days of the top northeast amateur events being streamed by UpstateAl. I always looked forward to the Ginky Memorial, the Eastern States Championship and a few others. The Turning Stone is still free and a few others, but obviously the covid19 pandemic just stopped everything. MVP tour does streaming but its not the same production.

But what can you do?
