Does breaking off of a piece of cloth lose your control?

I just did, and I find it easier. I can actually jump a practical distance with a dart stroke on carpet; on my home table I can't jump a full ball and still keep aim with that stroke.

I Googled ("jump shot" cloth thickness) and Bunjee seems to agree with me.
You’ll also find it is easier to jump with an additional cloth thickness. The thinner, faster cloths (such as Simonis 860) that are popular among better players are much more difficult to jump from than the thicker cloth often found on coin-op tables.

EDIT: After thinking about this phenomenon for a bit, I would agree that shag carpet would be detrimental to jumping (the carpet I used was the short office type). I think the thicker cloth will absorb impact, but impart a large portion of it back to the cue ball. As long as the fibers won't move away from the cue ball like on a shag carpet, the cloth should behave almost like rubber and "bounce" back at the cue ball to send it off.

I find that it's easier to jump off of thinner, faster cloths... but the slate on the tables that these cloths are found(as well as the balls) might be the reason why it's easier to jump than on a bar room table.

Not getting the patch picked up quickly can alter a slow rolling ball but I can always get it picked up before slow rolling balls get to it. We just decide to not worry about a minor difference in the way a ball might roll if it hits the patch. That's life. That's pool.
