Does everyone here use a jump cue?

I don't really feel like I need one, I seem to do okay at jumping with my normal cue but if I'm missing out on something I would like to reconsider not getting one.

I'm kind of with Tooler. If I were the dictator of pool, I'd ban them. Help bring back the wonderful game of three cushion billiards. Joss Tour allows jumping with a full cue. Acceptable to me. Yes, I have a jumper in my bag. It stays there until it is absolutely necessary to use it. I've won matches because my opponent didn't see it. They played safe when a ball was very makeable with the jumper! JMHO.

I think it is a necessary tool and you arent using all your options, of you dont use one.

For me, if i had to choose between a break cue and a jumler, id go jump cue.

That said, i cant remember the last time i used mine. It is rare, but sometimes the jum is the right shot, as oplosed to the kick.

IMO, there's very little skill involved when using jumpsticks.

Now, a masse' or swerve shot is a skill set every decent player should own.
It's amazing how many people in leagues own a jumper, and pull it out at every opportunity. It's kinda silly. I'd be willing to wager a small amount, that in leagues I've been in over the last 30 some years, the percentage of made jumps is less than 5%.

It's a waste of time.

The real kicker is, the few that are really good at jumping, wear it like a badge, but couldn't play a masse' to save their life, or a full table swerve shot.

A jump cue are an excellent tool that adds alot of flavor and variety to the game.

Anyone who balks at them is cheating themselves. Don't listen to the troglodytes; jumping is great.

I have 2 in my case; one dedicated, and the handle of my breaker can be removed. I can also jump full cue with the breaker.

That said I will normally masse or kick.

I rarely use mine mainly because I'm not very good with it. Should probably use it more to get better with it. Growing up no one ever had them and just used their regular cue to jump. Personally I think it's neat to see how the game has evolved to where it's not uncommon to see guys pull them out at the pool hall and use them.

If the player is C+ or less, I usually end up getting ball in hand when my opponent break out the jump cue.

Not for me. Never had one and most likely never will. It is an artistic shot....but out of respect for the table(mine and others)I won't jump. Plus...jumping does not really fit into 1P (my opinion)

I carried one for a while, easy to use, but don't like giving up the space in my 2/3 jb case.
I can usually get the job done with kick or masse.

less skill to just jump I can agree. but make a ball with position or jump to play safety takes or jump masse those take some skill. its a percentage shot like any other a jump will allow a hit but sell out the game if you jump with know position in mind.

A jump shot is a legal skill shot. I do not see any reason not to learn all of the tools that are legally available for winning games. I can kick and masse. Some times those are the best shot. But there are times when my likelihood of sinking the OB are higher with a jump shot. From my perspective, learning to use a jump cue is like learning to use a bridge. I practice both so I can use them when needed.

I have one, and will use it as needed. I don't love jump shots, but since they are a legal I'll use them.

I wish rule sets were that you can only jump with a full cue.

First you basically say it's easy because it takes very little skill.

Then you advocate what you feel is a harder shot?

Then you talk about how almost no one you watch jump can do it.

Wow.
