For those who wonder about the pressure John felt and his mindset during the critical points in the run, he just did a live interview on Facebook....

Here is the video:

https://www.facebook.com/PredatorCues/videos/451666048976768/

Here are times of some profound answers by John...

6:20....John discusses this was most pressure he ever felt in his life

14:30....what were your emotions when making ball 527?

17:44...what was the ball count when you really started to feel the nerves?

My take away is that John was playing against himself, while chasing Willie. There is another level of mental stress here where he states he didn't want to let his family, wife, and friends, and himself down, who all helped him get to that point. His words on his emotions from 470 to 500 are telling in what I believe is some of the greatest pressures a pool player has ever put himself under.

In a 14.1 tournament, if you miss shape, you can just play safe and manufacture another inning at the table...but to John...this was the Deer Hunter--1 shot, that's all you get.

Unbelievable respect and admiration for any individual to dedicate his life to an accomplishment like this.
John states you have to play straight pool for 20 years to even touch on numbers like this. The size and weight of this accomplishment is apparent in this interview.

It was a great interview....he expresses himself extremely well.
...it was interesting that one of his pool enemies, Bobby Chamberlain, was one of the
first to congratulate John.....Bobby plays enough straight pool to understand how high
that mountain was that John climbed.

The record is more than enough. The record plus the US Open makes it a no-brainer.

Anyone who thinks that 626 doesn't gain him automatic entry hasn't given proper thought to the overall significance of the occasion: The game can finally stop clinging to the past and start looking to the future... A new chapter began Monday.

Pool's story would be hugely incomplete without John in the HOF.

Your correct.

But, there are some here that have a grudge against John. Some of the grudges are personal but, some of them are from people that have never even met him. Some of them are just "playing follow the leader".

I know one 14.1 player on here that has lost my respect for sure. I'm sure he knows I'm speaking of him. I dont have to call his name, he knows he is being small because he is jealous because John would kiss-up to him and for whatever reason.

He should be ashamed but he is not. That in itself is a shame.

It's one thing to do wrong, get caught or be made aware of it and then feel remorse and make it right.

It's totally a different thing when you do someone wrong, know it but do not acknowledge it or, even worse, keep doing it over and over without shame.

I know it seems like I have an ax to grind. I really, really do not.

It's just that I know what it's like to what to do something but, have people tell you that you cannot because of this or that.

I have Gilles Tourette Syndrome and was told from as early as 10 years old that I could not do the things other children did.

I was also told as a young man that I could not be in the work force.

Well, when I wanted to spend money on pool lessons as a much younger man, I was met with resistance by EVERYONE because it, to them, did not make sense because if I cannot be still long enough, it does not matter.

Well, guess what? I ran 156 balls. It was just once but I can remember it like it was 5 minutes ago.

I've ran a little over a 100 three or four times since and 80 something just a few weeks ago.

With me and pool, well, I have to "time" everything.......my tics act up...I'M DONE....period.

This is not about ME.

This is about the people that said John could not do it and then when he did, well, listen and look.

Some of them talk about pressure....lol.......

Here's a new hypothetical question that I might need some data to answer.....

Do you think John's 626 DVD will be the highest selling DVD in pool instructional/match/competition/exhibition history?

Does anyone know to date, what is the most popular/highest selling non-movie DVD in history? Robert Byrne instructional? Shane's 5th US Open victory on accustats? A Bert Kinister video? Ralf Eckert's PAT series?

In a day of video on demand--selling DVDs is unheard of, but John's 626 might just set more records than 626....in his interview he did say he was getting some serious offers for distribution.
