Does size matter?

Do you think that practicing with tight pockets help or hurt you? Or, does it not matter?
Should you practice with the same size pockets you usually play with?

Define tight. I need a frame of reference.

For myself, my table started at 4.25 with shims, and about 3 years ago I had it changed to 4.5 using rail extensions. I went to 4.5 mostly upon the mechanics word, I wanted them at 4.0 but he talked me out of it.

I don't think my pockets are tight, but compared to standard poolroom Brunswicks they are.

It has been long known that players have to change their strategy on tight pocket tables. You have to play more conservatively, use less side spin and watch your ball pocketing speed. If you're a developing player, playing only on tight pocket tables may cause you to train yourself to restrict your stroke. It's not too bad if you mix it up and play on both tight and loose pocket tables but don't just stick to tight pockets or it will stunt your growth as a player.
