Yep, that's the law and has been for years. Some inspectors are tougher than others but they are all supposed to be vigilant. I suspect the current interest in ivory will make it harder on a lot of people trying to bring items with ivory in them back into the states.
 
Good thing they had the papers necessary, but it seems to have cost them a bunch to get them back. I love 'the guilty until proven innocent' method they now use...especially when it concerns kids....just wish they protected the southern boarder as well as they seem to do the northern one.

Yeah they're real good at doing nothing jobs and then walking around like proud peacocks with their nothing bust. They won't protect the southern border until a bomb goes off under their butts.

As far as the ivory - it's always been that way. You shouldn't go out of the USA with anything ivory.
