Don't remember you just shot a break and run?

Do you ever shoot a break and run and don't realize you just shot a break and run?

I do this. I sometimes can't remember if it was a break and run or a table run - can't remember if my opponent ever shot or not.

And I have seen other players do this. They don't know they just shot a break and run until you tell them. You say; "Good break and run!" They say; "It was a break and run? Oh ya I guess it was..."

Hell, I do it all the time. No I don't mean I break and run all the time. What I'm talking about is when my opponent starts talking about the previous game. Or if a person watching asks me something about the previous game while my opponent is shooting the next game. I can't remember shit! Unless it was something that would stand out like a real good (or real bad) shot. Three games ago? Forget it, I don't remember. Maybe if it was real special. But ask me how I got to that special spot in that game and I couldn't tell you.

Sometimes I'm surprised I remember how to shoot at all.

I'm fairly sure that this is a bigger problem in my game than I want to know.

I remember most shots and games. After league play I will recreate a situation that I was either in, my opponent, or a game by someone else. This amazes a lot of players. They will tell me that they don't remember and want to know how I do it. They will say that they cannot even remember the last shot that they made. I think it is because I am paying attention. I won't remember it forever unless it is something very special.

I can only focus on one thing at a time. I am not gifted like so many people today that can talk on a phone, drive, read a book, watch a DVD player, and eat all at the same time.

In our league, we get these silly patches, or coins, or pins the following week for completing a break-and-run or making the 8 on the break. What we are supposed to do with these I don't know - I mean who is going to sew a patch on(?) and on what (?), and then wear it where(?) I don't know.

Anyway, I've got a few such break-and-run items, but with one exception I had no idea I'd done it - sometimes didn't even know until the following week when the captain handed me the patch! The one time I did know was playing the local shortstop who routinely would run the table; a much better player than your average APA7. Normally, you'd just sit on the side holding stick while he devastated you - if you got to the table you'd have been safed. I got three rail position on the 8 to complete a break-and-run on him, and that one is in the personal highlight reel.
Otherwise I never know - I'm just concentrating and working the table and it happens sometimes.

in this area they give away 8 ball key chains for a break and run. only reason i know is i saw this guy with about 20 of them on his case,,,,,,,,,,,,,,thought he sold em cause i dont shoot league pool

Yes. When I'm in gear, sometimes people will say, "that's two break and runs in a row" and I'll say, "really".

I rarely know when I break and run. It's usually because when it happens, my focus is on each individual shot. If I am thinking about the entire run, that's when I blow it.
I have a guy on my team who can remember every shot of his match, and usually knows exactly what the score it at any time during his match. Someone can tell me the score, and two shots later, I don't have a clue! I guess my brain isn't set up to multi-task!

Bridge players are notorious for replaying hands. Unlike them, I never remember hands, but I can hold my own against them.

Anyone who tells me how well I am doing at snooker while I'm still shooting I figure is just trying to knock me off my game. It doesn't work.

I don't remember games, but I've made a few shots that are etched into my brain.:D

Scaramouche, Scaramouche,

Can you do the Fandango?

Last week my APA captain handed me a B&R patch and I still cannot remember when I did it. One problem is, I don't always play every week.

Yeah, "in the zone" is right. When I play my best, I don't remember what just happened, only what's before me.

Me too. Either that or I am "zoned out"!

If this is being in the "zone", then I guess I do this a lot when I am concentrating on something. I tend to block everything else out.

So when shooting and concentrating on what next to shoot, etc. Someone may say something to me and I will not hear it. I need to ask them what they said after I am done shooting.

And when running out, I concentrate on the present and the future (shots). I guess what has happened in the past does not matter, so I forget it?

If I mess up and go sit in the chair, then I have plenty of time to think about the past (shot)!

In the zone or Dead Stroke.

You focus on the process, not the outcome. Only if I could do that every game, every match.

Tiger Woods was discussing one of his Majors that he was playing in, and when it was over, he said he was so focused on the next hole that he hadn't even realized the tournament, for him, was over, and that he had won! Think about the financial rewards, the audience, the television equipment, the World class competition, he pushed it all aside and focused on the task at hand.

Talk about a true champion, what a winner! Talk about steel trap like focus!

This past Sunday after a nine ball game my opponent came up to me and said nice run, I said it wasn't that good running from the 6-ball, he said you ran from the 2-ball. I thought about it and I didn't remember starting with the 2??

It's kinda like poker, I never remember my good hands but that AAA77 boat that beat me 2 years ago is fresh in my mind. I guess when things go according to plan it is not memorable, when things go wrong you remember every little detail.

The memory can play funny tricks on ya sometimes. I can usually remember most if not all of my games for a couple of days after a tournament. Especially if I discuss them with another player afterwards. I know sometimes I'll remember a shot as being say the 1 ball, then when I discuss it with somebody else, they'll say it was the 14 ball and all of a sudden I'll remember some other shot in the game and realize that it had to have been the 1 ball. Practice is totally different, though. I'll forget my shots almost as soon as they are down unless they are remarkable for some reason. I'll have a hard time trying to figure out if I ran the table or which ball I started a runout on in 9-ball. I always remember 8-ball runs during practice because I don't allow myself to practice 9-ball until I've played a perfect game of 8-ball (run all the balls including the opponents after sinking the 8).

This happens to me quite frequently as well, god only knows how many break and runs I have when playing by myself that I don't know about.

:) Yea, yea, that's the ticket;

If I can just put together all of those break and runs I have when playing by myself that I forgot about, and put it on the competition table, I would be a top pro!
