Dr. Dave uploading DVDs?

Thank you for letting me know, and thank you for clicking on the buy button. At least now I know that Youtube owes me my cut for at least one sale.

How did you know the videos were available? Where did you see them (in an e-mail, in the channel subscription area of your account, in a recommended videos section, etc.)???

Thanks,
Dave

No email, but I have email notifications from Youtube turned off, and I don't think it popped up in my subscriptions - it did that a few days ago but as you know they were unavailable. I had to look on your youtube channel and saw that they were now available for purchase.

Thank you for letting me know. You actually knew the DVDs were available before I did.

Please let me know if you have any other feedback or suggestions.

Thanks,
Dave

PS: Have you used the online linked tables of contents? Is this something you or others might find useful?

One problem with YouTube is that there aren't any chapter markers, which are really important in these kinds of videos. So yeah, having external chapter markers is a good thing, if not because they are something new, but because they replace something missing.

Well stated. This is one issue I personally have with a downloaded DVD ... its just one big file with no structure. The ability to create online tables of contents with active chapter and section links is one of the things that sold me on the YouTube streamed approach.

Thanks again for you input,
Dave

Is it possible to put the table of contents into the description of the video? That way you could see the chapter markers for the video right there on the same page.

Excellent idea! I'll try to make that happen and post a message here if and when it is available.

Thanks,
Dave

It still says not available in your country for me?
Sorry, but Croatia is currently not on YouTube's list of countries allowed for their purchase program. Hopefully, they will add it in the future.

Regards,
Dave

Same here.
Not available in your country.
Do you have geo-restrictions on the videos?
Sorry, but Curacao or Netherlands Antilles are currently not on YouTube's list of countries allowed for their purchase program. Hopefully, they will add it in the future.

Sorry,
Dave

For others who are still getting the "not available in this country" message, please let me know. I will add the country if it is on YouTube's current approved list. I will also keep a list of the countries people request so I can add them in the future if and when YouTube allows them to be added.

Thank you, and I'm sorry the videos aren't currently available everywhere,
Dave

I'm from Bosnia, not Croatia
I apologize for that.

Fortunately, Bosnia/Herzegovina is on the YouTube purchase list. FYI, I just added your country to all of my videos, so you should be able to purchase them now (unless it takes a while for this to go through YouTube's system). Please let me know if you now have access to the videos or not.

This is one thing I don't like about the YouTube Purchase system. I have to add each country separately (with the pertinent country-currency price) for each of of my 23 DVDs (separately)!

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks again for suggesting this. FYI, all of the linked table of contents info is also now available in the YouTube Video Descriptions for direct and interactive access to all sections and shots on all of the DVDs.

I hope you and others benefit from these links.

For those of us who purchased the DVDs, will we get access to the streaming version?

I got VEPS, VEPP and HAPS :)

They are $19.99 each.

Since you asked, I'd also like to know what you guys think about the price.

The mailed DVDs, when purchased individually, retail for $29.95 plus $3.50 S&H for a total of $33.45 each. The retail cost for an entire 5-DVD set (just the DVDs, without the multi-disc case) is: $129.95 (plus $5.50 S&H), which works out to $27.09 per DVD.

Another question:

In the future, do you think most people would prefer traditional DVDs or stream-able versions?

And do you think some people will want both?

And for how far into the future do you think people will still want to be able to purchase DVDs (e.g., as a packaged gift, or to keep on their shelf)?

Thanks,
Dave

Sorry, but no. The streamed versions of the DVDs are different products than the physical DVDs.

Some people will want only the DVDs, some people will want only the streamed content, and some will want both.

Unfortunately, I have little control over the sale of the Youtube videos, and they don't report detailed sales records to me, so I'm not able to offer a deal where you get both a DVD and the online version for a single price.

I'm glad to here it. I hope you have enjoyed and benefited from them.

Cool. I did notice that although the links work on a computer, the links are absent on mobile apps (Apple) and they just show up as times in regular text. It's probably just a "feature" of the app. The time codes are helpful even without working links.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll try to find a way to defeat the "feature" when I get a chance.

As BRussell pointed out, all of my DVDs are now available for purchase for streaming or downloading via YouTube. Links to all of the DVDs can be found here:

Instructional pool and billiards DVDs from Dr. Dave available online in streamable form via YouTube

If anybody out there decides to purchase one or more of them, please let me know how the process goes, and let me know if you have any suggestions for improvement or if you have any complaints.
I recently learned that YouTube video purchases are not currently allowed on iOS devices (Apple iPhones and iPads). However, if you purchase the videos on any other device (e.g., a PC, Mac, or an Android phone or tablet), you will be able to access the videos from any device (even Apple iOS devices).

Has anyone tried this yet to assure me that it is correct?

For people who have had trouble making purchases, I recently added a detailed set of instructions on the Dr. Dave streamed DVDs page to help.

Please let me know if you guys have any additional feedback, suggestions or questions.

Thanks,
Dave
