Drawing on the Rail?

A friend told me he saw Efren doing this in a money match at Hardtime Billiards. This was 10 years ago. Can someone verify this?

CueTable Help

I think the problem is that I couldn't jack up enough to get the draw to go. I tried using a dart stroke with just the shaft and it was pretty easy.

The reason I think the shot was so impressive was that the guy I was playing both drew the ball back AND made a full length shot on pretty tight pockets.

There is a side to this shot that ought to be considered.

It's that if one pulls it off with authority, it can have a devastating psychological effect on your opponent. There are times when shooting a doozie can not only psych out your opponent, but win, too.

There's also the possibility that the only shot that will work in a particular situation is the draw shot being discussed. If that arrow's in your quiver, more power to you, if not, why not spend 30 minutes or so trying to learn the shot? If nothing else, you'll know whether or not it's an option for you.

I've done this type of thing and when it works its really really great and yes, it does have a heavy impact on your opponent. It can be devastating to your opponent and can win you the game or match.

Try it sometime especially if your last shot to the 8 or 9 ball is a low percentage shot. Sometimes you can just pull one of these tough shot bad boys and make it, and emotionally crush your opponent. This can also cause problems for the other team members who saw the shot. These types of shots should be practiced so when the need arises you can meet the challenge.

That's pretty impressive - it's harder to aim the shot than to draw the CB back. It's really impressive if he makes it consistently.
