I understand that all of the draws for the gualifiers were done in Chicago.
The draws for all tournaments should be done at the players meeting IN FRONT of the players.
I'm not suggesting that anything "Shady" happened, but pool players have been dealing with shady people and organizations for years.
If the IPT wants to show the players that that tournaments are totally fair to every entrant this is what should happen.
Again, I do not think that the draws are fixed in any way. I believe that the IPT is and has been more than fair, honest and generous to the players.
Having said that, I'm sure that most players DO want to have the draw done in front of them. Not behind closed doors in another City.
I would be interested to see how many of you would agree with me.

I've seen draws done in front of the players that are suspicious. The room operator may buddies and be pressured to assist. It's not the trickiest thing in the world to fold a pieces of paper so that they can be recognised and pulled out for byes, or to stack the halves.

Personally I think it's better to do it centrally. Trends or biases could be recognized if they continually occured and you don't have to worry about keeping an eye on the local tournament directors.

Just my 2c

As one of the qualifier TD's, I was glad the draw was already completed. Since I personally knew half of the field, there was no way anyone could think that I was doing anything to look out for my friends. Not to mention, it was one less thing to delay the beginning of play. None of the players in Raleigh even mentioned it.

In general yes, it would be good to have the draw done in front of you, by unbiased persons. I noticed that the IPT did just that when it came to qualifiers that IPT staff were at, but centralised when they weren't.

I would suspect that it is precisely that they want to ensure it gets done such that it leaves no room for suspicion, that they've centralised it.
