I am looking for a dremel tool post holder for a tag style lathe. I have some leads on other router mounts but am still looking for a dremel mount. Thanks for any input.

Maybe Chris Hightower can help you out?
I think Todd on here has some. TSP&B.

I got one of Todd's (TSP&B above) and it is GREAT!!

I'm sure Chris's is good too, but haven't used it.

My 2 cents,

Gary

All of the holders that Todd has for sale are the best that are out there for the Taig style lathe.

I have his Dremel and the Porter Cable mounting brackets and they are great.

I'll second that

I have both and they are great and Todd is very easy to deal with.--Leonard

B&D RTX Tool Fits!

My poor old Dremel 395 is 15 years old or so and it is getting a little underpowered. Yeah, it might just need new brushes, but I started looking at the new Dremel products. I was thinking the new 4000 model looked like a good replacement/upgrade, but then I started seeing some references to the Black & Decker RTX rotary tools. They are half the price and more powerful (2.0 amp motor) so I got one. I had read that they fit ALL the Dremel accessories, but you can't always believe everything you read on the Internet (believe it or not )

But here's proof that Todd's Dremel mount can be used with the B & D tool, as well.

Thanks Todd!!

Gary

If it has an nose cap that threads on with a 3/4 x 12 thread it should fit.

Gary,

How do you like the B&D RTX??

Todd,

I haven't had a chance to use it much yet. But it feels good in my hand. It does have more power. Even though B&D calls it a "3-Speed", those are just the detentes in the speed control - you can adjust to any speed between low and high. The speed control is very stiff, so it's not going to move - my Dremel's is very loose and changes too easily. I'm going to set up my dial indicator and see what kind of run-out it has, then track that over time to see if it increases or not.

Just updating this old thread with my experience. The Black and Decker RTX that I bought is a piece of junk. The power switch broke after about 10 uses and has to be held in manually to stay on. The spindle started vibrating after a few more uses and now it makes jagged cuts. I only use it for cutting rings and now it is useless for that. I would stick with Dremel if anyone was shopping for a new tool.

The tool post holder is great though, just use a Dremel with it. :)

I use the one I got from chris. I had to put a couple of trim rings on the dremel before I screwed it into the holder so that my controls were on top
for easier use. Works great with very little vibration with my newer dremel.
