DRESS CODES - in general

A very good comparison.

Why don't you just compare dress code advocates to Nazis and be done with it.

Everything that needs changed starts with a voice. Most of those things are met with people who disagree because they like how it's always been done. Are dress codes equal to women's right? No, of course not.

It's over. You lost.

And guess what? Next year there will still be a dress code at CSI. Be prepared or be square.

Aw, you don't want him to do that -- that would be Godwin's Law. After all, that would end the thread, when the intent is to continue to shake his fist!

1. This has nothing to do with amature pool.
2. I was dressed in perfect dress code and didn't alter my clothing at all.
3. This is about professional tournaments I'm not playing in.

If you cannot keep up, please take notes.

Btw, keep killin em with that hair bro.

Collared shirt and slacks. For footwear, cross-trainers are fine as long as they aren't of the neon color variety that seems to be the trend these days. I saw Mika on a stream at Hard Times recently, and his shoes were god-awful. So loud when they were in frame you didn't see anything else.

The issue crosses from amateur events to the pro events,

At 60, at least I have hair. From your photos... you'd better start hitting the Rogaine.

LOL I just read this to my wife and we both laughed. I have no shortage of hair. Haha nice bud.

The dress code should reflect the seriousness of the event. That seriousness includes the potential payout. When an apa event pays more than a "pro" event, I don't think it should require an outfit that costs more than the prize.. any prize. That said, it should still be decent attire - collars, no ripped clothing, etc. If you're starting to pay out decent monies, then yes, you should be dressing a little better. It must be kept in mind that stretching and stability are part of the game. Unless it's 14.1 or you're Corey Deuel, breaking hard is also the norm. Heck, if you actually had viewers, maybe it would even matter.

I feel like people are thinking I want pro pool players to dress in sweat pants or something. That's not what I want. If they're practicing or gambling, ok, but that's not how they should compete. I personally think golfers dress very well and have very comfortable shoes and wish pool would model their dress code like golf, especially the shoes.

The dress code war is real and the troll won't slow me down.

You can put a pair of Testoni or Vuitton on a monkey, it's still a monkey.

Dress codes are a good thing, they should have them for every school in the country (uniforms) maybe in 30 years you will have educated and well dressed players.

Last week I was talking with a few players, they had no clue about Crimea,Gaza Strip, Exploding Jets Etc. They got up and walked away from the table and tried to go hustle $50 games. One guy ended up playing for $25, came back to the table and said,,,, Got Lunch Money

Until then you have a better shot a hitting the sun with a snowball at landing big sponsors and television deals.
Oh Wait!!!! maybe we can get a reality show. That's Genius

Everything I see is nickel and dime. Players still pulling moves etc.etc,
It's a long long road.

I am with Cleary, lose the Server Outfit, dress comfortale, look presentable and play pool. The only people watching are us pool players.

It's a Cult game we play.

^yes

Also, reality show is very much in the works. Myself and mikeyfrost are part of a reality show and a MAJOR network just bought it. Can't give details, but things are getting real with that real quick.

Cleary,

You seem like a level headed guy. Why the obsession with dress codes? Enough of our societal standards have eroded, some for the better other for the worse.

There are dress code standards in every sport (including golf), thankfully so.

There was a time when men went out in public, they wore a shirt and tie. Now men walk around in tank tops and pants hanging so low that their underwear purposefully show.

Some standards are good.

You should let it go, you've made your point.

Best.

I understand your point and trust me I'm not trying to lower the standard, but things can be better. I can't stop.

The main issue is most pool players don't have a clue as to how to dress like grown ass men and will show up in athletic shorts, tennis shoes, t-shirts, sweat pants, flip flops, backwards hats, fitted hats with straight brims or ptetty much anything you see the hip hop community has brought to our culture.... After 25 NO ONE should still dress like that even if they color coordinate.....

So it comes down to there has to be a dress code... When the tuxedo was the code it was because as a nation grown ass men dressed as such and usually showed up in a suit coat... even the bums had hats and coats becuase you just didn't go out in public otherwise.......

So now that we as a culture dress as 13 year olds maybe dropping from the vest, dress shirt and dress pants model is over due or it needs to be adjusted..... Cleary argues the golf dress code is adequate.... I tend to agree after talking to Thorsten.. He pointed out that we want to appear as athletes if we are to appeal to younger generations.. And he along with many of the new breed of players spends time working out and training and treating pool as a sport......

So what do we do??? I think with pool beomcing international in flavor that tournament wear should be Black pants, Black Belt, ALL Black Leather Shoes( they can be tennis shoes as long as they are leather uppers and all black) and golf Shirts... But not just any golf shirt...... There has to be a set style with allowed graphics and patches.... I won't go any further tonight but I have been doing research and looking at options... Just going to be DCC before I say anything else =)
