what kind of bits are you using ?
i am in the automotive buisness and i have some very expensive bits, but when using them on lathe , slower rpm seemed to help but didnt think the did well. i center drilled the went straight to 7/16 for the insert. should i do it in steps like in metal ?
figured it would make it harder in wood to keep it centered.

thanks , carl

I use brad point drills. They have a flat cutter head with a center drill tip, and a long spiral for quicky removing debris. No better way to drill wood, in my opinion. I use DeWalt bits from Home Depot or Lowes.
