drop to water to take out small nicks?

Hi...

I know some people say that putting a drop of water and letting it sit overnight or steam will help take out little nicks in the shafts.

My question is...I have a little nick on the finish on the buttsleeve. It's small but it bothers me like crazy. Not even worth sending it back to get it refinish since it's not that big. Can I use the same method and use hot water to somehow raise the finish (varnish) on the cue? Thanks...

I wouldn't. You might want to consider touching it up with a clear finish just to protect it until it's time to do a full blown refinish though. I have had some success using clear nail polish. "Just a little dab'll do ya", then lightly sand & polish.

The drop of water SWELLS the wood, in the area of the dent. It only works when the water is applied to bare wood. Rain water won't raise a dent in your fender & it won't do anything to the automotive finish, that's probably on your Q...JER

i had a few dents or nicks in my shaft a really old shaft and i used spit rather then water as it run off the shaft easy and spit wouldn't they say use a rag or cloth that is damped and run an iron over it and it would bring the dent out but if you want fast action use the cherry of a cigarrette and run it over the dent but becareful doing this as the heat is really hot and you might discolor the wood, Just a few things i tried that worked.

Jeeze ,i wouldnt even consider anything hot near my precious investments, i geuss people dont value billiard cues the same .....................................
