I picked up this cue a few weeks ago. I need to get a new shaft for it, but I was wondering what the model is of this sneaky. I have not seen this pin and collar on a Dufferin? Any info helps.

This was called the "Target" joint, but this cue has a collar on the shaft. It doesn't change the actual joint but depending on who makes the new shaft it may or may not have a matching collar on it. The standard version of the joint is in the attached picture.

I have a dufferin with the exact same set up, im actually thinking of replacing the joint on the butt, then getting a 314 or red dot shaft for it.......just for kicks.

Anyone out there know how difficult changing the joint would be?......what it might cost me?

Duffrin reversed that joint on later cues with the pin on the butt.

I woner if you got a new pin you could just screw it into the butt and get a newer shaft from Duffrin.

Dufferin

I have the same Dufferin cue that I picked up on Ebay with 2-shafts.
My original thought was that it would make a nice conversion cue with the butterfly spices and 4-point design.
It actually plays very well, straight, and it wasnt that cheap.
This was a while ago but I think it went for $105.00.

I think it's a great cue to play with or as a conversion blank.

Isn't Dufferin out of business? I thought they quit making cues.

The owner, Elizabeth Selinger, sold the pool cue portion to a Chinese manufacturer who continues to make the cues with the Dufferin name on them. Selinger Wood continues to operate and the Dufferin Game Room stores themselves were shut down in a bankruptcy filing.

And yes, in later years the pin was found in the butt of the cue, not the shaft.

I may just put a pin in the butt and call it good. I like that idea slot better.
