Dufferin cues

I know that they closed down but I've heard that they were bought and they make cues again (or someone else is making the cues...)

A friend of mine just got a new Dufferin cue, I've never seen one like it and I've never seen this type of logo before and I can't find anything like it on the web so I suspect that it's a fake...

Does anyone knows or seen something like this before?

The forearm is just the same as the butt and the checkered rings are also at the joint and abovr the wrap.
The joint is metal sleeved with a 5/16 X 18 pin

I'm 90% sure that faking a relatively cheap cue company like Dufferin would not be worth the time/cost involved in it. I mean a cue like that might retail for $200-$300. Hardly worth the time spent in construction to fake it in my opinion.
 
Dufferin ended production in Canada several years ago. The name and production equipment were sold and moved to southeast Asia.

The picture seems to have the Maple Leaf Dufferin logo on the surface of the cue. The Canadian cues (don't know about the current versions) had the logo about a quarter inch below the surface of the cue covered with a clear cap.

If he likes it, no reason to sweat the pedigree:D
 
Dufferin was bought by Cue & Case, the same people that do Lucasi, Players & Rage.;)
 
I know that faking a cheap product is pointless but Dufferin is a very known brand all around the world, in fact until they closed down 90% of house cues in pool halls world wide were Dufferin so the cues may be cheap but when you sell at that volume there's a lot of money involved...
I'm sure that for this reason the brand Dufferin was picked up by Cue&Case.....

I know of 3 logo types that were used by the original Dufferin:

The left one is the clasic logo and was used on all pool cues
The in the middle was used on some of the snooker models
the one on the right was used on new models that came out towards the end of company's life...

It just that I've never seen the logo type that is on my friend's cue and I've never seen that kind of ring work on a Dufferin cue...
A search for Dufferin cue only finds cues with on ot the 3 logos above but nothing like this cue....
I can only asume that this cue is one of the "new" asian made Dufferin cue... and regardless of it's quality, it's not the same as the original canadian Dufferin cue.
But still being unable to find anything online is a bit odd...
