Dying leather drop pockets, anyone ever do it?

I have been a posting fool these last few weeks, so forgive me if you keep seeing my posts. I am in the process of refinishing/restoring a furniture grade leather drop pocket table. I want to go with a dark finish, very dark like ebony but the pockets are brown. I don't want to spend more on new pockets than I paid to the table. So I thinking dying is worth the effort.

Anyone ever do this?

How old are the pockets, can you post a picture?

Instructions on how best to do it are based on what condition they are in. If new or newish, meaning they still have some type of finish on the leather, you will need to start with a leather deglazer. Then dye (if you want black, I recommend fiebings usmc black dye, then use a spray finish such as leather sheen.

Money wise you should be into it for 20-30 bucks.

There are other steps that need to be followed as those are just bullet points, but thats the easy way. :thumbup:

The rails w/pockets are still in the back of my sub that's with the wife right now. This is the best I can do for now.
