Can someone give me advice on turning Dymond wood. I have a piece i want to make a shaft out of. How long can i let it set between passes.

> I've made joint protectors out of it,and a few shaft inserts but never a shaft. These are my tips.

Use carbide rather than HSS.

Wear a paper mask with the amount you'll be cutting, the dust is OBNOXIOUS,and smells terrible.

Unless you are using live tooling (router/Dremel with a thread mill),don't even try to thread it for a ferrule tenon. It taps fine, but single-pointing it for threading is a waste of time,it chips badly with anything more than a .001 cut.

Have an air hose handy, you won't believe how much of a mess it makes, and be prepared to "detail" your machine afterwards.

I'm sure this is the case with all of it,but I'm basing these tips on the cocobolo version. Tommy D.

A week or so between passes should be fine on it. Take off no more than .050" a pass.
