I just saw Earl Strickland's name as being a part of the World Summit of Pool! Wow, I didn't know he was going, when did this happen?

He entered last years also.

Sure did. His double hill fluke of the nine ball in the TV round against Harriman may have been the single luckiest shot of last year's UPA season.

Yeah that was certainly a lucky one! I think Earl participating the World Summit of Pool will be good for the event.

Definitely. Earl adds flavor to any event he enters.

Shots like that and Efrens (reno) are what keep people on the edge of their seats......

I think they may have listed Earl only based on his playing last year. I don't believe it is positive that he is playing.

Have left a couple of balls out as they didn't figure in the shot. Here's what happened double hill:

do u feel he can win..

Earl has the potential to win any tournament he enters, although he hasn't won a major tournament in a long time. Does anyone actually know his last major tournament win? Tell me it's not his WPC title from 2002.

My thoughts ...

Granted, a few players are very good at kicking,
but IMHO, when the object ball is in the middle
of the table or at least away from a pocket,
and especially if it is a long kick, they are still
lucky. I saw Earl's kick, which was VERY lucky,
and he was going for just a solid hit, and hopefully,
a leave.

I also, watched Efren's kick, and am convinced, that
he just wanted to hit it, and hopefully send the object
ball to the long rail, and get a leave also.

Both could be considered 'hail mary' type shots.

The only way to know for sure, is to make them BET
before the kick if they will make it or not, and you
know what, they won't since they know they are
just making 'educated' guesses on the kick.

One of my good friends, who I play just a little better
than spends a great deal of time practicing kick shots
of all kinds, and he is very accurate with. As far as his
kicking abilities, I would rate him in the top 5% of players.

To me, you have to practice the unusual to keep 'tuned' up
all the time.

Perhaps, the simplest and best advice I could give
someone is to always:

1) Pay attention to your form and stroke.
2) Master the basics.
3) Practice the unusual.

As you become better and better, the 'unusal' will come up
more and more, and you have to have good knowledge of it
to keep up or keep winning.
