Earl/Shane score

All I can say is it really is incredible how I was saying all this same stuff in a thread a couple weeks ago, not even putting Earl down, but more pointing out his flaws than anything. I myself am a huge Earl fan, of his game that is, not as a person, but I was saying all this same stuff you guys are and I got f*cking hammered for it and all I was doing was pointing out the difference of old Earl and New Earl, now everybody agrees with me...funny how that happens isn't it?

Earl needs help. His antics are not that a healthy person does. It is a shame a guy with that much talent thinks the world is out to get him.

That's how I feel about it. I see Earl doing this and all I feel is pity. I used to be angry at him because he was my idol when it comes to his playing style. But when I got to see him in person and witness the behavior I was really kind of shocked.

It's not only the self-abuse it's the constant amount of noise in his head that manifests itself into inappropriate remarks and actions. I actually feel bad a little bit because a little part of me tunes in to watch Earl play to see which Earl is going to show up. All of us Earl fans want to see him play like the stone cold champion that he is. No matter what Earl does have an EXTRA gear that most world beaters can't get to on their best day. Maybe they don't think so but I believe it's true. But I think many of us watch in anticipation of the crash.

How bad will it be, will he pull out of it, will the opponent be able to fade it.... and honestly, this "watch the monkey dance" part of spectating isn't helping Earl.

There is a part of crazy that is a brain chemistry imbalance and a part of crazy that is just a lack of self-control. I believe with all my heart that Earl has a bit of both. At some point someone just has to slap him to wake him up to the fact that he can't act this way forever if he wants to keep the friends and fans he has.

You know what though?

I'd pay 2-3k to spend a week with Earl in pool camp. Just like people pay to "train" with NBA stars etc.... he would probably drive me crazy with the chatter but what could you learn???

I honestly believe that Earl should quit competing for a while and focus on giving lessons and exhibitions. I think he could make a good living doing that and not have to fade the tournament grind.

Its funny you mention that, there is actually a video on youtube of Earl playing a match back in the day and the damn roof caved in and Earl just kept right on running out with only a slight glance at what was going on.
Well said Glen, As you progress in this sport you either learn to tune the bs out or get your lunch ate. The best players can have a car drive into the building during their shot and never hear it. Their concentration is that focused... I play a very famous player one pocket on a regular basis. The more i beat him the more he talks and whines. Even for ten bucks a game...lol It great sharking practice for me...
I find it funny myself and use a little reverse sharking. The other day he even walked over to the table and bent down in front of my shot to make sure i heard him... I simply stood up off the shot and said "were you talking to me Buddy?" It frustrated him so badly that he quit soon after. He also has the most famous sharking story ever and is very proud of it.
Shane has the physical ability to tune others out completely, some people believe thats a big part of what makes him a great player

It was a match at the Reno Sands Regency.....Seems somebody put a bucket on top of a ceiling tile (the 2'x4' lay-in type) to catch water leaking from the roof and when the bucket got full, the weight was too much and the whole thing came crashing down through the ceiling tile.....it was lucky no one got seriously hurt.....
