Earl Strickland MUST have some fans on AZ!

I put up a photo gallery of the 1982 Dayton Open 9-Ball tournament on June 27. This little collection (just 19 images) drew more traffic in the four final days of June than any of the other 9 pool photo galleries on my Smugmug site. The next most popular gallery was the Red's 1983-84 gallery (with 163 images). Now I must admit that the single most popular image in the Dayton gallery was one of Cornbread Red, but 11 of the 19 images have Earl in them. So I must conclude (mustn't I?) that most of the "hits" on the Dayton gallery were people wanting to check out the youthful Earl Strickland. I guess a lot of you AZ'ers must be Earl fans.

BTW, here's the link for the gallery:

I'm a Strickland fan, although I don't like some of his antics, his nine ball game is simply phenominal.

The pictures you posted are classic photos for sure. Thanks for posting them.

I think Earl has a fantastic game, but sometimes he is to rude and almost clumsy in his demeanor.

Ps: I think the pictures you have are great, seeing them brings history to life for me.

Thanks! As for Earl's behavior, just about everyone agrees that it falls pretty far short of ideal. But over the 25 years I've been watching him play pool, he's been one of the most fun to watch. I've always thought that if we really knew all about the inner demons he's been battling, we might forgive at least some of his gaffs. Or maybe not! ;)

i personally believe Earl's game, 9-ball anyway, at it's best to be the best on the planet. however i accept that there are also quite a few other players who you could make a case for if you were fans of them.

however, one thing i think is indisputable is the WAY he plays the game. he is definitely the most INSPIRING player I've ever seen. the way he can just be (and in the words of the american colour of money match commentator) a total "offensive juggernaut" is breathtaking and that's why he's my favourite player.

One more Earl fan

One idea to help Earl................DEPAKOTE 500mg X 3 times daily

Is this the right treatment for Earl?

DEPAKOTE has been approved for the treatment of acute manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar disorder, with or without psychotic features, and has been approved for the treatment of certain types of epilepsy. It can also be effective for migraine headaches in adults.

I'm guessing that you aren't prescribing it for headaches or epilespy, so you may be thinking that Earl has a bipolar disorder. But if your prescription cures his symptoms, will he still be fun to watch???:D
