Earl Strickland vs Keith McCready

Thanks to you I missed my bedtime....:-}

Rep to you for posting this.

They are using the old rules I noticed. You scratch on the break , cue is in the kitchen and anything made spots. Also if the lowest number ball is behind the line it is spotted too.

I vaguely remember this used to be the standard rules.
Thanks for posting (dont you just love you-tube)

Thanks a ton. Like the old rules. 1st time I've seen them in play. Twice Keith hung the 9 on the break. Conceded one had Earl shoot the 2nd. If I had my choice of people to watch it would be Keith and Efren. Talk about different styles. One Sunday at Hard Times during the 1st of the month tournament Keith came RUNNING over to Efren and slapped a grand down on the table. They both dropped out of the tourney immediately and went at it. Doesn't seem funny as I read it but it was funny as hell to watch.

Did they have different rules? In one game, Earl scratched on the break but made a ball (6 maybe). The 6 and 1 ball were spotted. Why was the 1 ball moved from it's original spot? It is in part 4, second game.

The one was spotted also because it was behind the head string. When you scratch after the break back then, you had to take BIH behind the head string. Thus the one was also behind the head string which meant you could leave it where it was or spot it.

Awesome, was great coming into work this morning and seeing this. Watched the entire thing. Absolutley wonderful seeing McCready back then. Dude is incredible. Firing banks in!

the video illustrates how even the best back then considered the break just an afterthought

the nine ball break has really developed into a skill shot and changed the game entirely, Cory Duel gets credit for that imo

Real old school no extra equipment Earl the Pearl and Keifer with the either I don't think it gets any better. Thanks very much and Poolbum you can maybe learn how to post the finals for us , I would like to see Earl and Jack Hines play .

Thanks for sharing this with us. I sure enjoyed it both guys played fast and loose and although Earl wins it you gotta take your hat of for Keith what a great style of play he has. I could watch these guys play a race to a 100 and not get tired or bored. If you have any more matches you could share please do so. Thanks again! Philw

I just spotted an old friend, Mark Showalter, playing on the table beside them........

Mark had a pool hall in Garden City, KS about 5 years ago. Is he still around there?
