I hit a guy in a bar in OKC with a Cue Tec. It is a solid hitting cue. Hardly any deflection.

If I was Earl, I don't know if my skin would be thick enough to read all the lovely opinions people on this forum have about him.

If you were Earl, you would probably be arrogant enough to not care.

Ok. You used the word Cuetec 6 times in one extremely long, run-on sentence that is rife with grammatical mistakes. Is this matthew Staton???

Earl is very passionate about pool and does care. He is actually pretty darn insightful, and I very much enjoyed his posts about straight pool. He takes things way too personally, however.

Say what you will

I loved to watch Earl Strickland play when I was a kid. He is a world champion !!! 5/6? time US Open Champion. I think he might still have a little game.

Of course this is just one mans opinion.
Please no flames.

Tim.

I just watched Earl on TV

They just had the 2003 Int'l Challenge of Champions SemiFinal between Earl and John Horsfal on ESPN Classic. Unfortunately, Earl lost in Sudden Death. John broke last game, made 2 balls, had an easy way to the 6-9
combination for the win.

Earl was playing pretty fast and got on a 50 yard line shot on the 9, and just missed it. It made me cringe ... bad. Then Horsfal made a good long
shot for the win.

The whole match, Horsfal looked like he was in about 3rd gear, while Earl cruised along in 5th.

Earl is a pleasure to watch play.

just finished watching that myself i posted a thread on it tomorrow the next semi finals yippy, John looked very controlled and solid at the table i love how focused he is at his mechanics, what he does with his legs when he sets up for the shots.

The last 3 balls

In Sudden Death, John was on the 7, and obviously he screwed up, and got straight in on the 8 at the opposite end of the table from the 9.

My question is, would you have played it like John did with $50,000 on the line for THAT ONE GAME, or would you have gone rail first on the 8 to get your cue ball down towards the 9 rather than the 9 ball shot he had.

Which would you have chosen for a $50,000 shot?

Im not really concerned with getting flamed..cause the facts speak for themselves...I am not a huge Earl the Pearl fan..but it trips me out how some posters here have the nerve to say very much about the man's game...Most of those that post stuff about Earl dont have half of his game..IF you did...you would have half of his accomplishments..which you dont...I get really upset when opinions over shadow the man accomplishments...does he get hot headed ..yes ...do he sometime say crazy shi$ out of his mouth and can be a bit disrespectful..yes..but the man is a legend on the table and that what we talk about here on this forum...shooting pool.. if you can beat Earl consistently then by George you can talk about his game...if not ...let it alone...

Yikes:eek: Although your post is very valient, I disagree. As a pool FAN we have every right to talk about someones game just as people yell at there football team for dropping the ball or ***** about Joe Blow for striking out to many times in baseball. Once you reach Pro statis in any sport your game can be and will be criticized by people that can't play that game as good as you. We as FANS have every right to voice our opinions on a Pro athlete without being harrased into the famous "why don't you play then" bullshit. Without the fans and there emotions there would be NO Pro Sports.

I concure with your post but some people here when it comes to Earl Strickland...dont just post opinion..sure i could say..hey Johnny Archer isnt wining as many tournaments as he used to ..his game is going down the hill.. (not really my true opinion, i lve archer) but to say that about a man that has that caliber of talent IMOP is a bit disrespectful..and i just think that Earl catches that way to much..hell i dont really like the guys personality..but i do respect his game..I am a firm believer in the fact of before i judge a man on doing something that i can do it as good or better than he..if not then i dont have the right to correct him..thats all...im not saying fans can have opinions on a players personaility but some members here post about his game..and i disagree strongly on that part.
