A little anecdotal stuff I heard about Earl and one of his bank matches (it might have been this match actually).

He was playing and going on as usual, and his opponent who was in his 70s or 80s said something like "Son, you shoot a good stick but I've never heard of you before" and "It's worth my entry fee to hear comments like this."
 
funny story

I have a funny story i thought i would share about Earl at the dcc. I was watching my boy Niels play him in nine ball. It was pretty obvious from the get go that Earl was in this foul mood. after Niels missed a ride on the nine and left it pretty much hanging in the jaws, Earl gets down on the ball, stops, picks his head up and stares right at me for like ten seconds then proceeds to miss. Later in the match when he wins a game a few guys were clapping for him and he responded by plugging his ears with his fingers and shaking his head. We were also walking out of the tournament room and he happened to be in front of us talking to some random and he stated, "Everyone here wants me to die." When i heard this i lost it. It gets the quote of the dcc for me.

I dont think so. It would be impossible for this guy to stay married. It appears that he is following the same path as luther lassitier. That guy was never married to anyone either..... Except pool that is.

You can say this or that about Earl but he did come by the AZB room for
a photo shoot with all the members that were present. Earl is Earl an thats
just the way it is.

I think he is wearing all of that crap so that when an opponent finally loses it, he'll be wearing protection in case he gets attacked. What a loser!!

I found Earl to be a class act while in the AZB room,quite likeable in my book .
great sense of humor . He is also quite the innovator when it comes to keeping his game sharp . The wrist and elbow braces are weighted to help keep his stroke sharp and clean .......

Earl was married, and divorced. He has spoken about it and retains a huge amount of bitterness on the subject.

He is now and has been for quite some time in a long term relationship with pool photographer Diane Hoppe.

I like to watch Earl play. I don't know if I would like being in a match with him, but to watch him on TV is entertaining and interesting, to say the least. He plays at a good clip, has a beautiful stroke, and knows what to do. He approaches an Art form when he gets going.

They say there is one in every crowd, well, Earl is that one.

I agree. You said that very well. He is really something to watch when he gets it going. I saw this one match from the 2004 US Open where he was playing Rodney Morris. He was on fire that day. The guy was just amazing, such control and finesse. His speed control was phenomenal, he seemed to be able to do whatever he wanted with the cue ball, and with such ease too (great feeling when that happens by the way which unfortunately may not be as often as we'd like for those of us not gifted with such athletic talent and ability). I mean, it was awesome to watch. I can see why Earl admires guys like Bustamante. He knows a fine player with flair, style, and class when he sees one. It was ever since the 1993 Pro Tour Championship, Final that I first noticed this. And that says a lot since there are not many guys that I think Earl admires, or respects.
