I think that's the other side. The near rail in your first picture looks like the standard Formica. The other rails all look better. I wouldn't think someone would restore/replace the Formica on several rails and leave one original. Formica is consistent in appearance/texture. A couple of those rails look like no Formica I have ever seen.

I am half blind and see exactly what you were showing, The grain in the Formica is completely different. it does stick out like a sore thumb for sure. I am sure it has no bearing on play-ability, but it does look pretty odd.

Yes, it would be good for a laugh. Filling the teams with those that compete at pool for a living is definitely getting old and stale.
