If you read on the home page of AZ you will notice, that when Earl and Nick V. had thier match going, Earl was making comments towards Nick V's family.

I can only imagine what was said, but WTF is it going to take to make him shut is Fukkin Mouth! Seriously, if it was me Earl was playing and he is making some comments towards my family, i would stop shooting and beat his ass, right there.

Now, obviously if the comments where made towards my father and he was in the crowd and heard them well, i can only imagine what would happen to Earl lol !!!!! :D

JAM!!!! if you was there give us the 411 on what was actually said :)

True!!!! In the same article it said Earl was left with 2 balls on the table that he was unable to get to, so he just BLASTED at them lol. Kinda reminds me of when he lost to Gerda.

He had one ball left that he just couldnt get to, and he kept on trying harder and harder to break out the ball, but kept on ending up in a tougher spot on the table to pot his ball and try to break out the cluster.

And he ended up losing to Gerda and so his RANT began!!!!!!!!!!

EARL IS MY HERO!!!!!!! OR NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nick said: You should look me in the eye while shaking my hand!

Nick said: Yo should show me a little bit of respect

Earl said: I do respect you but i do not respect your gurus over there!

this is why he favors offense 14.1 :D:D

Poor Earl. The guy just wants to win more then anything and when he loses he takes it straight to heart. When he's hurt he lashes out and at times looks a fool. If he could only find a way to channel that anger into his game.

When walking away after the last picture showed by Myra, Earl said, don't do that to me......come on do something...do something. You have fools for people (pointing at cornerman/entourage) that's why I didn't look at you. Nick's cornerman (large fellow) approached Earl, whispered a few words, Earl said something about Nick being a hothead (what the..) and then said, ok Nick I'm sorry about that. Nick replied, don't say that! Earl said ok then.

I think it might have something to do with Earl getting out of his chair to check that the cueball wasn't placed to far forward by Nick for his break at 7-7, after sitting for a few seconds having racked the balls for Nick.

It is a broken record with Earl. It happens time after time. The thing is earl knows how to push buttons and win matches. That is also his game plan. He only does this when he feels that he doesn't have the upper hand. He lives in my hometown and i have seen the show over and over. Trust me he is a guy that will do anything to win. If he can't win on the table he will get in your head. You must be mentally ready for him you can't let him get to you if you do he will continue to pour it on until you crack and then bam he has got you!! You must be prepared both mentally and physically.

After your explaination and Myracurf's I still haven't figured out what was said, but it certainly doesn't sound like anything for people to be upset about.
And I most assuredly don't see anything wrong with with Earl checking the cueball spot for the break. Ya, it is a little picky, so what. He did the same thing to Efren in that big head-to-head match in Hong Kong (or was it Singapore, no matter). All Efren did was smile and move it, but not enough so you would notice which got Earl to get the referee to have Efren move it. All this time Efren seemed to be enjoying Earl's show. Maybe Varner's "entourage" should lighten up, mind their own business, and not worry about what is going on at the table.
As I said in the other thread about this... "Strickland is Strickland", everybody knows what to expect.

I think that is the meat of the matter. His desire is huge, thus his hatred for losing must match. For every high there is a low...

(snip)
I think a head-butt to the chest is now generally accepted as the proper response to disparaging comments about your family.

I too think it wasn't a big deal. Just Nick letting Earl know he's not one to be messed with. I didn't hear any of the insults that Earl threw at the Family of Nick van den Berg (not Varner) so for me it came down to Earl not looking Nick in the eye when they shook hands, Nick didn't like that and held Earl's hand a little longer and firmer, which Earl didn't like. No biggie. The reason I mentioned the checking of the cueball placement was that it was the first time he did this in the match and it was hill-hill. Earl put a bit of a shark on Nick, but nothing to bad. Insults to family are not acceptable in my book, but have nothing to do with the match. You insult people, eventually one will knock you out.

after Nick held Earl's hand:

Nick: You should...
Earl: Man you can't do that to me, go ahead do somethin', do somethin'.
Nick: You watch me in the eye if you shake hands.
Earl: Do somethin', your people act like fools. That's why I didn't look at you.
Nick: A little bit of respect, man
Earl: That's why I didn't look at you cause you've got fools for people, you see any fools around me?
Nick: I don't understand why people clap for you.
Earl: I don't understand 'em clapping for you!
Nick's cornerman: Nice match, Earl......difficult to make out.
Earl: Difficult to make out exactly but big mouth was used.
Earl: Ok, I'm sorry about that Nick.
Nick: Don't say that.

Seriously though, look at this picture. Hockey style tape wrapped down the butt of the cue to make it considerably wider (and probably heavier). A huge glove on his bridge hand.... and this is a light day for him, he doesnt have the other glove on his backhand and he isnt using his finger extenders... and this guy who complains about the game not being pure, complains about jump cues, and uses tons of other gadgets himself (including sports glasses) is wondering why he is losing???

I would be willing to bet that if he got rid of all that sh!t and got rid of cuetech earls game would improve.

This is a very true statement about Earl... I have known Earl on a personal level for many years. This is one of the best definitions I have ever read about him.

Hearing people cry about Earl's behavior disgusts me. It's as if none of you have ever been in a poolhall on a non-league night before.

I don't know

Hey, I'm sort of a new poster but I've already posted about earls sh#t.If you love him thats fine you don't win as much as he has without talent.Having said that,STOP kissing his a#s with this will to win sh#t.I have met many champions and none of them acted like I as a fan owed them something ( that is except for earl)!

Those players are not on Television representing the sport. I could give a shit less about a player in a poolhall who I dont know (whether he shoots good or not) *****ing and moaning. I do think that if you are in the public eye like Earl is, he should show some respect for the other players and stop acting like a child with name calling and empty threats.

He is a grown man and one of the best players pool has ever seen. He is a representative of the sport and a representative of the US when shooting in major tournies. When a banger thinks of Pool, I dont want them to start thinking about Earl Strickland's antics.
