Earls comments at the Mosconi Cup:

Fittingly the final word went to Earl Strickland, who had tears in his eyes as he collected the Most Valuable Player award following an undefeated tournament.

"I'm really shocked I got the MVP – I want to apologise for what I said about London on day one, it's really a nice town, he said.

"When I get in the heat of the battle I come undone and I want to apologise for how I was and the things I said.

"It's so much fun and so easy to play with Rodney – I'm 44 but I played like I'm 24 in this event, I've never shed tears in my life but being the MVP is the most important thing I've ever done in my life."

nyce to hear he is sorry, i wonder if he apologized to Charlie in the skins program when he ***** him on fouling the fiveball :D :D :D :D

Being Jewish, that's not how I would put it, but other than that I agree with you. I thought Jews were know as "cheap" not "cheats" and liars .

just an expression thats all. I should of put it this way

i wonder if he apologized to Charlie in the skins program when he cheated him on fouling the fiveball cause he wasn't very sportsmanlike. :D :D :D :D

Well...it's good to hear he apologized for his ridiculous and idiotic comments. However, it's very easy to say sorry when things are going his way, especially if he was holding the MVP trophy in his hands. I wonder if he still would've apologized if the US lost the cup. Well, i'll just give him the benefit of the doubt. Congrats to Earl...no one is denying his awesome talent.

Just an expression?

Just an expression? So you still equate, even on your revised "expression" that cheating is something that Jews are associated with?

I was going to type something very very nasty about your racist bigoted comment, and your weak and feeble attempt to justify it, but I will just let your stupidity shine through in your threads.

BTW, I am personally very offended. That fact that you continue to find nothing wrong with what you typed is even more vile.

Ditto!!

What an idiotic thing to say. As a gentile, i feel shamed and embarrased that things like this are being said.

Believe me. My planned post has me LMAO and am dying to post this but i didn't read anywhere if this new policy is zero tolerance or if there is a warning system, but if so I WILL post this in response to con's gem. The only thing that would be considered wrong is in the form of 1 profanity. Overall to me it's worth a slap...but not a ban...no matter how much the response is deserved.

The "new" rules are subjective...just like the "old" rules. You should be safe... unless it's about someone else that isn't mentioned in this thread.

To get back on topic: men who "batter" women apologize to their victims after they calm down, this doesn't make it right or acceptable behavior. Earl has a serious problem that should be dealt with.

Dave

Thanks to everyone who felt as I did about "con's" comment.

Even though you apologized for your comment, it was very offensive. I happen to be jewish and was disgusted with it. I am far from cheap and am very honest. It is not like you spoke without thinking. You had a chance to read what you wrote before you submitted it.

First off, explaining it was a figure of speech is hardly justification, or an apology. It's obvious, even after being called out, he does not feel any remorse. Neither would a guy who has a KKK hood hanging in his closet, I would assume.

Second, no need to explain yourself. I would assume you are not cheap or dishonest, regardless of your religious background.

Derogatory racial comments on MB should not in any way be tolerated.

What kind of action/punishment are u suggesting?

I am far from the "Pool Police", but in this case Earl embarrassed himself, his teammates, and the US of A. I feel he should no longer be allowed to earn the right to represent America in any international team event for his behavior.

Earl is a great player and based on his ability he deserves his spot on the team, but based on character, definitely not. I feel in a team event, character is a huge factor when representing your country.

As far as Earl's behavior in other tournaments, such as the 2005 US Open against Ralf Souquet, I believe some type of progressive punishment should be adapted in writing to deal with this behavior for all players. Example: 1st offense, warning; 2nd offense, ban from a future event; 3rd offense, ban from multiple events; etc. The important part of this would be that everyone should be aware of these disciplinary actions ahead of time so there are no surprises & that it applies to everyone...not just Earl. Although it could be called the Earl rule ;).

JMO and suggestions off the top of my head.

Would Kevin T. stand for this behavior on his Tour? I wonder.

" you suck, you suck, all of london sucks!!! " by Earl the Pearl

Anyways i seriously cant believe they would give Earl the MVP after the outbusrt that happend in the event, yea he probably deserved it, but the whole outburst over shadows his performance.

I am sure there was someone else who played just as well as Earl but didnt blow up and say All of London sucks!!!!

Personally i wouldnt invite him for the next year or two

dave

So what's stopping Earl from chucking a wobbly at all these big events?....NOTHING!

When your kid is bad, and you give them something nice to shut them up, they will only be bad again to something else!

Am I seeing it wrong?....BTW, I've always been a huge fan of Earls game, just not his childish/unprofessional actions at times.....Gerry
