Earl Strickland used to be a great Champion......all he is now is: "Wanna be Champion " hats off to the real Champion Shane van Boening. Earl you bit the hand that feeds you for the last time.....go somewhere else and play. I have loved to watch Earl play all of these years and he is one of the best Pool Players of all time.and draws some of the biggest crowds. I lost respect for you last night the way you acted like a little cry baby. You want all of this respect from everyone else...when you give no respect to anyone..........Take you cue and go home. I will not spend anymore of my money to watch you play anymore. I used to pay to see you play all that I could and traveled places to watch you play. In my opinion, you had more God given talent then anyone else in the game at one time, and now you are doing nothing more then wasting it. I hope Justin decides to ban you from future Tar matches at the Studio and tells you, you are not welcome back until he sees fit, if ever. Earl you used to be great for the game...all you are now is a big cry baby when things don't go your way. It was very disrespectful the way you abused the equipment at the Tar Studio Saturday night. You don't even belong on the same table with Shane. I know I'll catch a lot of flack from writing this, but I've had enough of this cry babies attitude.

I also am still in awe of Earl's talent on the pool table, but can no longer stomach his antics and sharking. Shane has been more than patient with him the first two days.

I agree with everyone regarding Earl's talent. At times, on the right day, he can be a huge asset to the game. For example one on one after a tournament or away from competition. Other times he can be, in my opinion, detrimental to the game as many have been able to see from his conduct during internet streaming.

I've thought for some time that there may be something clinically wrong with Earl, these thoughts were supported on day 1 of TAR 22 when a friend of mind who is a medical professional and not familiar with Earl watched about 60 seconds of the match and said "this guy seems to have _____ schizophrenia" she listed the possible type which I've never heard of.

Who knows really? I'm definitely not qualified to rate someones mental state, nor is someone who viewed 60 seconds of footage but I also found it interesting when one of the commentators mentioned Jerry F heard Earl having a conversation with himself getting off the elevator at the hotel.

Whatever the cause may be of Earl's antics, what I would like to see is Earl playing to the best of his abilities, even throwing out a colorful comment now again to keep things interesting but not cross over the civility line.

I agree, Earl's antics are unsportsmanlike, but you act like this is the first time he has acted this way. He has been behaving like this for years. In fact, his behavior in the 10 foot match was far worse.

Shane has not exactly been a great sport either in this match with regard to abusing the equipment- he has been smacking the table with this cue as well.

What did people expect in this match? That somehow Earl would transform into a new person and be all polite and gentlemanly? Shane knew Earl would behave this way coming in as did everybody else involved.

This is part of the bargain if you ask Earl to play. Not condoning it- just saying nobody should be at all surprised.

In no way did I let anyone think this is the first time watching Earl play. I used to play at Starchers every year in the Ohio Open..Ohio State 9 Ball . In one event players were signing autographs for people, and many of them being young Pool fans. He had just lost a match and he started saying...yea your the world champion now because you beat me, and on and on. There was an 8 year old kid waiting for an autograph and because Earl was Pissed because he lost, he went and pushed this young kid by his head and refused to give this kid the autograph. He did this in front of about 300 spectators and Joe Kerr saw this happen. He told Strickland" I don't care if you are the defending champion and winner of this event for 5 straight years, go home and don't bother coming back until I say you can return" we don't want you here if you don't know how to control yourself. in retrospect I also saw Strickland after he won a match, take his cue and case and gave it to a young kid about 10 years old, well if you could have seen the look on that kids face, it was priceless. So the bottom line is Earl knows how to do the right thing, he just can't do it anymore, everything is always the other persons fault. He could be a big asset to the game...but it's a shame he chooses to be the asshole that he has become, with no respect for his fellow Pool players or the tournament directors. Don't get me wrong, I love to watch Earl play, he is one of the best players to ever play, but it's a shame he is being remembered for the dumb shit he does. One more comment, at the US Open Sept 11 2001 at Barrys tournament, Earl stepped up and was the first person to donate, I think he wrote out a check for $1000.00 to the 911 fund right there as soon as that horrible event was announced. Kudos to Earl for that and I don't like to bash him, but I wish he would see how his actions haunt him......Come on Earl, come full circle, and show the kind of Pool you can still play, and entertain the Pool World in a positive manner.

All he is is a frontrunner. Does anyone notice the score when he acts up? In my day one would get thier butt kicked if they pulled Earl's s--t.

you will get nothing but agreement from me.

I boycott any and all streams or matches with Earl in it.

Too many high caliber, quality people playing pool to allow Earl to pull his crap.

Yeah, too many high caliber, quality people playing pool who are scared to death to gamble with Shane (or Earl). Otherwise, they'd be on TAR instead of sitting at home watching the stream like you and me.
