Hey everyone after my last post I am kind of tempted to make some predictions about the upcoming season.
With the institution of a few new key rules I feel that this season will be running a lot smoother with less arguments over small issues.
Player Predictions all indicate that Steve Kurtz is going to be the man to beat. Since the close of last season he has been hitting the tables hard with a renewed vigor the likes of which I have not seen in some time. It seems that his learning curve for the game is far advanced from the other players as Steve truly is a student of the game in many respects. I know he has taught me ninety percent of my straight pool knowledge and the rest I kind of just make up as I go along. He recently posted a big 80 ball run while shooting against me and I think that has only fueled the fires more. I look forward to seeing both what the league has in store for him and what he has in store for the players in the league. WATCH OUT !!!!
Last Year's champion John N, who posted some very nice wins still has the same drive he has had in months past. He too has been hitting the tables hard and if anyone has the drive to beat Steve this season its going to be him but he is going to have to do so with Steve kicking biting and fighting him the whole way as I know neither player is going to lay down for the other. These two men have a great deal of respect for each other's games and I know that it will be an interesting match right off the bat.
**** Interesting news, we now have our first lady joining the league in Steve Kurtz's lovely wife Heather. I have had the pleasure of knowing her for a number of years and think her bubbly personality, her charming demeanor, and skill at the table will make her a great addition to the league this season. Don't be fooled by her friendly smile or her good looks this woman is a force to be reckoned with at the table with one of the best bank shots in the game. When asked Charlie E (league operator) had this to say.
" I have been watching Heather practice and get ready for league this season and all I have to say is WATCH OUT, do no make the mistake of underestimating her as many of her opponents have done in the past. I think of all the new faces in the league she is going to make her presence felt the most."
One notable absentee this season is long time friend Donnie "Detroit" George who is going in for surgery later this month. This should come as a relief to many of the players in the league as this cagey veteran knows his way around the table and has pulled off some impressive wins last season over some big name opponents.
All in all guys we are looking forward to a great season and I look forward to hopefully streaming some of the matches from League Night at Leisure Time Billiards in Levittown NY.
